I have a question. On dbz changelings didnt need to breathe. They could survive under water and in the harshness of space.

Would that require an ability or technique for my changeling to do the same. I was wondering if its just a unmentioned ability that changelings dont have to breathe.

The Survival Ability can be used for things like not needing to breathe.

Alternatively, there is an item you can buy called the Rebreather that allows people to breathe in space or underwater, and we've let people RP that as a racial ability.

Those are pretty much your only options.

Well, no, sort of.

If you have survival or a rebreather, then yes, you can pretend like it's a racial/natural ability. But there's no free lunch, if that makes any sense.

Do you want to know if you're allowed to RP your character as being able to hold their breathe forever after you buy a rebreather or do you want to know if you can RP your character as being able to hold their breathe forever in order to get around buying a rebreather?

I was actually going to ask if, for instance, a character could hold their breath for a ridiculously long time - say their profession was a swimmer or something. Or couldn't you just RP using scuba gear or something? Would you really need to buy a rebreather to go underwater for long periods of time? I feel like that is something that is trivial and can be RPed around - unless of course you wanted to float around kicking ass in spance. Then again, you could probably RP wearing astronaut gear.

Swimmers can't hold their breath for a ridiculously long time, maybe at the most they can do it for a couple minutes. The other guys who do static apnea have to go into a trance like state to hold it.

The idea of the rebreather, and Survival ability is that you could drag and hold an opponent underwater to hinder their fighting ability- or hide there yourself.

Still that's just regular diving and swimming, if you're in a high stress situation trying to fight off an attacker the amount of time you can stay under is going to drop quickly.

In DBZ world you don't need to buy a plane to fly, and you don't need to buy a gun to shoot shit at people. You can sprint fast enough to make Usain Bolt Jealous, and blow up entire planets at your bidding. I think pinning down an underwater survival time based on the real world would be a bit contradictory to the spirit of DBZ.

Yeah, but than you'd be wrong.

Watched the Furiza Saga? Furiza almost succeeds in drowning Goku, they also make a point of stating that Furiza can survive in space while Goku could not.

We're actually discussing this in the staff forum, Trafford, bringing up your suggestions and finding out everyone's opinions.

We'll get back to you when you can. I'm not entirely why other staffers are continuing to post in this thread though. I wouldn't take anything as "decisive" until you hear someone specifically say "this is the decision" (or some wording of it).

at about 3:38 for the drowning part, couldn't think of a decent search for the line where Frieza mentions something about the irony of losing the battle and Goku still being the one to die.

lol But also when freiza blew up planet vegeta he was in the midst of space laughing his brains out and wasent breathing. And Bardock gave a god dang speech in space. Vegeta was in space blowing up astroids for training to become a super saiyajinn. So..Yeah Thats the whole point of the thread and I got my anwser.
