I was just curious (again ), how much freedom do we have with how the various non-custom Techniques are represented visually? For example, does the Genki Dama necessarilly have to look like a giant blue ball?

YES!

...No. Unless someone goes over my head, I think its accepted that there's a fairly large amount of freedom for customization. So long as the move does what it says it must do (and is mechanically similar), then it'd be fine.
