Bleach! I'm in the market for coming up with a Bleach-style play-by-post Rpg that I've been working on for a few weeks already. There's no forum or anything like that- mostly just a collection of ideas I've type up in a document that I thought might be interesting to add in if this picks up.
Why am I posting this? I was hoping that maybe there would be a few individuals who might find some spark in this project and want to help carry it along.
Basically the storyline is going to have absolutely nothing to do with the series (manga or animated), characters will be different with a large cast of NPCs with original stories, personalities and backgrounds, fully customizable in terms of your own personal characters (which will be explained), and other little bits and pieces that I found tantalizing.
If anyone does find this to their liking, get some posting going! I've got class in a half hour after I post this but I'll be on tonight both here and on AIM if anyone wants to get a hold of me for some more information (I've much more than what I've posted here) and maybe we can get something big going.

If I do another RPG it'll be Immortal Blade again.
And that's mostly already finished, just needs staff and people.

epic samurai/ninja RPG
Long ago, the continent of Sengoku was united under one ruler. He was a just and powerful ruler who commanded the respect and reverance of his people. In addition to being a great ruler, he was a powerful warrior who lived with the code of "only the strong survive." He raised a powerful army to quell any uprisings that might occur, though they were few and far between. However, as everyone does, the ruler passed away, leaving his kingdom to his two sons.
When the time came for one of his sons to take the throne, a problem arose. While people expected the elder son to take the throne, the younger claimed that he, as a more experienced warrior, was the rightful heir to the throne. The general populace was split between the two sons. The elder of the sons seemed to be more interested in the affairs of the people, but the younger was indeed the stronger warrior, as his father was. Perhaps a great fighter would continue the legacy that his father had left behind. Through a series of events, the land of Wakaguni was split into civil war. The younger son took the army and moved to east, while the older son fortified his position in the west.
The two kingdoms existed for several years in a tenuous stalemate, until the older son made a move to reclaim the land that was once his father's. A horrible war broke out. Exactly one year into the war, a horrible earthquake shook the land and split it in three. Many claimed that it was the spirit of the father keeping the two sons from fighting. The two sons called off the war and life resumed as it once had. To the surprise of many, the younger son was the first to die. Having had no son of his own, the richest families in his land created a council and ruled as an oligarcy. The older son took this opportunity to strike once again.
The oligarcical rulers, however, were well prepared for such an event and the lands were once again thrown into a perilous war. Just before what was suspected to be the final attack against the oligarcy, the older son was found dead. There many rumors as to how he died, but no one claims to know the turth behind the event. After his death, the general of his army took command and put an end to the war by striking a mutual agreement with the oligarcy.
The years after the war were years of recovery and rebuilding, at least for General Tokuyasu. He took control of the western lands and would live on to rule for a long time to come. The eastern oligarcy, however, was facing more touble than anyone expected. During the chaos of the war a rebel faction appeared and declaired their hatred for the oligarcy. They claimed to be a group of poor families who were tired of listening to the rule of a "rich group of idiots." Their leader would go on to become the ruler of their land, but only after two and a half years fo struggling. The oligarcy, still recovering from the war with Tokuyasu, did not have the resources to combat this new opponent. In the end, the oligarcy, as a whole, offered a settlement with Ieawa. He would be proclaimed the ruler of the land, and select members of the oligarcy would remain in power, as a form of senate. They reasoned that, this way, the interests of all parties would be represented in the governement. The rebel group agreed to this and Ieawa was made ruler.
Many, many years passed with no tension between the two countries. That is, until Tokuyasu's territory found itself attacked. In the middle of the fateful night, the outer-most city of Tokuyasu's control found itself burning down. Soldiers poured into the city, slaying the inhabitants and burning the buildings. This was the beginning of a new war. Fighting raged on and on between the two kingdoms. Cities and lands were detroyed in the un-ending wake of the horrible battles. It wasn't until Tokuyasu issued a direct challenge to Ieawa to settle their war. The two rulers met and agreed that the outcome of their battle would decide the outcome of the war. The two rulers battled for days, both of them showing off their amazing prowess for battle. In the end, they fell on each other's swords. The war ended, once again, in a stalemate.
The Ieawa Senate took over control of their land once more, while Tokuyasu's son took the throne. Akamaru Tokuyasu was the older son of his father and was accepted as the new ruler with almost no problmes. Almost. The younger son, Batou Tokuyasu claimed that his brother was not fit to rule, and spoke against his ascention to the people of his father's lands. Blessed with a silver tounge, Batou gathered a force strong enough to resist his brother and take a chunk of land for himself. He quickly set up a capitol city and proclaimed himself the true succesor to his father's throne. These are how the conditions stand now. The two Tokuyasu brothers ruling their respective lands, while the Ieawa Senate claims control of their land. A fourth territory is present in all of this conflict. The Independant Territory is comprised of mostly bandits, outlaws, and refugees. That's not to say that there aren't any good people in this territory, that is simply how it was founded. The independant territory has no capitol and no ruler. It is a collection of small, sefl-sustaining villages.
Holy shit I can't believe you still have that, Waff. I definitely remember writing it.
More on-point, the Bleach universe would lend itself pretty well to an RPG. I'd be surprised if you don't find some interest, Wolf.

I'm game for sum zanpaktou kickarse. Any ideas on the available races? I've only watched the anime but there's so many main races it's about as silly as ever.

Here's my spiel for the races-
One of the issues that I've had from a lot of Rpgs is people not being available to switch between certain "races" without completely restarting a character or otherwise. Here it's not so much a matter of race than it is "title" so I took a few styles out of other stories and meshed them to see what comes up.
Human - This is the basic spiritually aware human. Their focus is using basically any weapon (fists, broom, pole, hammer) amplified by their spirit power (Reiatsu) to preform a style of magic (Demon Arts) and fight. Now to give them a perk and make every human different there are three modes each character falls into for their power- Strength (offense/defense boost), Speed (speed/agility boost), Magic (Reiatsu-based powers boost). These three styles effect what their "Release" (Tier x2, Tier x3 transformation) will be.
Shinigami - Soul Reaper of the spirit world. As would be imagined, you're a part of the "Soul Society" in that your primary job (should you follow it) is to preform missions given to you given by higher ups with the authority. As a Soul Reaper you have a number of options you can choose from to decide where you progress to. Upon entering the Soul Society as a Shinigami you are given the possibility to enter the Spirit Arts Academy which will train you to become a member of the 13 Court Guard Squad which offers some perks. Alternatively, you may also choose to go rogue, exhaled (for whatever reason your story needs), become a sanctioned Earth Shinigami or even run the route of becoming a Vizard.
Quincy - Basically human but more weapons oriented. Their strength lies in not exerting their physical prowess but their ability to draw in large amounts of spirit energy into their shots. A true weapon-based class but created in such a way that a Quincy can have a single weapon that will take them throughout their career, never needing a change if they don't want it. The main pull for this class is obviously the weapons which range from crossbows and arrows to shotguns and sniper rifles that shoot pulses of spirit energy. The Quincy travel in pairs- a "master" and "apprentice" who train and fight alongside one another (Jedi-like).
Hollow - Souls who've developed a taste for consuming other souls, growing stronger with each spirit. Hollows are made for the people who want a more creative path with their character as it offers them a chance to become any type of bizarre creature so long as the typical "Hollow Mask" is found over their face. Up through their Vasto Lorde form a Hollow will be using a "Soul Arm" or a carnation of a weapon that can be claws, nets, bows, anything really. As they progress through their forms they begin taking on human appearances (if they wish) till finally achieving the status of Arrancar.
There's also the ability to start your role playing off as a "Plus" or a human spirit- from there you can either become a Hollow or Shinigami. Likewise, Shinigami can become Hollows, cleansed Hollows at lower levels can become Shinigami and Humans can become either (again, only to a certain point).
Having the possibility to move seamlessly and realistically between groups is one of the aspects I've been working towards in this. Another would be "reincarnation" that would come about if, let's say someone gets tired of their character but likes some of their talents. They run a final mission that's been approved by staff in which their character dies but the spirit is resurrected in the body of another.

Just like with Chubbs and changlings it's not going to be Hollow = bad, everyone's free to do as they please.
As another brief glimpse into what I've got going on- the world which the Rpg is based is going to cover four major continents each with their individual strife and characters to push a storyline. I'm aiming for a "realistic" Earth so there will be updates to various spots on the planet every 2-4 months that reflect the actions of actions of the characters existing (nuclear strikes, war, floods, etc. will change the environment by which IC players role play).
Despite the series largely taking place in the spirit dimensions and almost never in a plane of existence that actual people can see them, that's not the case here. There will be something set in place so no one can all out thrash an entire city but their actions will effect the way governments of the living conduct.

Refresh me, doesn't hollow need to either eat other hollows to ascend to a point where they no longer need to feed on human souls? If so, isn't 'evil' sort of nescessary?

Evil is really general in describing how one can write their character. Vad is a sadist and a murderer yet he befriended Sage and protected her.

No, you're missing the point! I'm merely wondering what's with the hollow = bad statement, not like the hollows would have to openly state they devoured souls if they had a good hiding place for a hole in their body.
... wonder if they can have it in the a-- uh, guess.
