If you're a job rank 2, then all your quests get graded as a rank 2 as well?
How does that make sense? If I'm a rank 2 Street Entertainer, i take that to mean that I've developed my skills at entertaining to such an extent that i earn more money (and thus the zeni bracket increases with rank). And now i'm job rank 2.
Just because I'm earning more money because i've developed my skills as a street entertainer does not mean that If i go assassinate someone, that i should get paid the same amount. My skills at assassinating people are not as good as my street entertaining, and thus i will not get as much back in return.

Also, on the same note, and not trying to derail Kaden or anything because I'm honestly not certain what Rank he WAS at the time, but this is an honest question: does it matter if someone is a Rank 2 now, but was Rank 1 when they wrote the quest?
EDIT: Used wrong wording.

It's been that way since we made this announcement. Please read announcements and rules. That change was made in order to accommodate the complaints that zeni was too hard to obtain.
Juno: when it's turned in. Also decided to alleviate concerns related to zeni gain.

Thanks, Kaden.
I'm not sure how fair that is, but hey, I'm not complaining.

Well either it was unfair because it doesn't make sense or unfair because it's too hard to get zeni.
This seemed like the lesser to two evils.

On that note I tried to look at the announcement and it logged me out and would not let me view it. Why is that?

Try that one, then. It's a thread called "Profession Changes" in the Legendary Asylum, made by Ander in October of '09.

Nope your link is still blocking me for some reason. I can do anything else but go through these links.

It seems like something specific to him, Kaden, because I can see it fine, and I'm the same member group as he is.

2.) Currently, doing a quest outside of your Profession incurs a zeni penalty. This penalty has now been abolished; you get paid the same amount of zeni for every job quest you do, but you are still identified by a "main profession." So if you're a mailman, and you want to do a chef job on the side, it's okay.
I'd seen this announcement before, but i took it to mean that you for the same amount of zeni for every quest you do. Since the term job quest means nothing to me. It's either a job or a quest. So, in turn, i assumed that regardless of your job rank, quests would always be graded as if they were rank 1, since it isn't you main profession. For instance, i may be a rank 2 Street Entertainer, but i'm eternally a rank 1 assassin, since it isn't my main profession.

No.
You can do Quests at higher rank than 1.

That makes more sense to me.
I think, though, they wanted to give more flexibility for obtaining zeni, but then it kind of makes having a specific job moot. I could be a bounty hunter, and do a quest to cook, so there's no boundaries or anything. Whats the benefit of having a set "job" when you can do a different "quest" that has nothing to do with the job and make the same amount of zeni.
then again, i'm not sure i'll ever do a quest because of all this, seems to make more sense that I just so bounty hunter missions and keep upping my rank and doing what I enjoy, the job I chose in the first place.
IMO quests are just a way to do something different for the same rewards, and that makes it easier for people who can sometimes get bored of the same routine.

Not saying that i'm against quests. I just didn't know that the zeni you received from quests would fill the same bracket as your job as you leveled. To me that's like leveling a white mage in an rpg game, and then just because your white mage is like level 60 in white magic, she can automatically utilize level 60 black magic spells... just so they're easier to maintain.
But now i get to have more zeni, and more spells, so cheers.

Yeah, Alex. We know it kind of doesn't make sense.
It's more of a balancing issue, because getting that z was just... too hard. It seemed like the least invasive fix we could do.
