ps3 vs xbox 360

Next month, i'm getting one or the other.... but i'm on the fence about which one i'll buy. The price isn't really a factor, but here's my argument

Ps3 gives me final fantasy, metal gear solid's, and all the old ps3 games i've played my whole life. I have a large HDTV, that would benefit from the bluray capabilities and i wouldn't have to by a dvd player for bluray movies.

xbox360 is the system i'm most used to, because more of my friends have it. I would like their online play way better since all my friends except for two have the 360. i think xbox has better overall games, but then again i don't have either so i can't really say.


what do you guys think. xbox360 or ps3?

This thread has been done several times. What it boils down to is whether you want to pay for online play (And possibly a wireless adapter for the 360), whether or not you want Blu-Ray, and which system exclusives you like better.

Since you already play with your friends and most of them have 360, get it. Sure the PS3 does everything but you're more like a social gamer than one who plays in solitude and hates the world, like me most of the time. PS3 doesn't have backwards compatibility btw, at least not anymore, so those games you've played all your life on PS2 that were dead. They're still dead.

Bluray...eh, I've got ps3 and have yet to see a blu-ray movie on it for the simple fact that they cost too much. I can't really comment honestly.


But PS3 lets me import music, pictures, videos and lets me browse the net!

While that's all cool. It's what you do on the computer anyway. =/

The xbox360 has a tendency to break, it has a huge failure rate.

The good thing about xbox360 is that 1) most of your friends are using it [most people do] 2) the online is supposed to be better

Bad things 1) it will scratch your games very easily, if you even bump it slightly your game is probably toast. 2) red ring of death, it gets it, and dies 3) pay for online play 4) does not have wireless, so you have to pay $60-80 for wireless adapter 5) doesnt play bluray

the ps3 has bluray, will be able to play 3d movies, and although it doesnt play ps2 games it can play ps1 games and you can download old playstion games onto it. It has free online, although the online isnt as good.

imo it's a hard choice. I bought my xbox first and then my ps3, since i wanted to play tales of vesperia. the big thing about ps3 is I heard FF13 versus is going to be ps3 only, so im glad i got it.

I'd say an Xbox 360. Xbox live is just so awesome, that it is hard to beat.

is there a list of games i can download from the ps1? has there been anything on getting ps2 games? i heard some of the systems were backwards compatible, but some aren't... whats the deal with that?

when they released the ps3 they had 60g and 80g systems and they could play ps2 games. Later they began to release newer systems, and then slim systems and they decided to take the hardware out. You might be able to get a backwards compatible ps3 somewhere, used, i know you can here. They're like $399 - $499 depending...since they're sought after.

honestly its not a huge deal to keep a ps2 around.

Um, 360 hardware is garbage but it has more/better (imo) games. People like to argue PSN is just as good as XBL but that's not true. That said, XBL isn't worth the 60 dollar difference between it and PSN.

Unfortunately it's all personal preference. What do you want? For me, it was easy peasy; the only game I'd want that's a PS3 exclusive is MGS4, and I'm not buying a console for one game. Especially since the rumor mill's talking about a 360 port now anyway.

Really it's your call. They're all shit. You just pick which one you think smells the least.

Less lag on average on XBL, faster/better matchmaking (though I doubt this is the fault of Sony and more the fault of third party developers), and it's just more popular. I've played some games that are HUGE on XBL and they're fucking ghost towns on PSN. I know that's again not really Sony's fault but it still sucks.

My buddy just bought a 360. It came with the wireless adapter for free. It was in the box. And advertised on the packaging.

Well for games that are both systems I can see it.

Never had an issue with lag on either console... and matchmaking varies depending on time of day/day of the week and that sort of thing. Unless you mean for pairing people of the same skill level together; it's okay in some games and not so good in others.

For my money the experience is pretty much exactly the same.

As a 360 owner, I'd say buy the PS3. The exclusives are no longer on the 360's side, online play doesn't require a paid subscription on the PS3, and the failure rate of the 360 is unacceptable. Go black, and don't go back.

There was a system that came with it, the HALO ODST edition xbox (I believe) that came out a while ago. It came with the first wireless adapter, which has had issues with some routers. It was a great deal, but you can't get it anymore, not here anyway.

The only bundles I know of now are the typical ELITE with game, like Splinter Cell system, FF13 system. It comes with 2 controllers, 250g, headset and 1 month gold sub. They're not selling wireless anymore, unless they make a new bundle, or you can find an old one.

And the HALO ODST one, I believe was a 120g.
