Elements Question
#1
IM Not much of a Chemist....

But i Know Fire NEEDS OXYGEN. And So does water.

If I was against a weaker or near same level Fire guy is it possible to weaken or kill their fire? Starving the area of oxygen?

And can Oxygen be removed from water? To make it no longer that?

If you removed Oxygen from water then only hydrogen would remain. If you removed Oxygen from an atmosphere where there was a fire, then there would be no more fire.

But I think the real question is how you would go about siphoning Oxygen from a certain area? And how would you do it without severely injuring/poisoning yourself?

Aren't the elemental powers just a manipulation/specialized usage of someone's ki (and thus supernatural), and not actually rooted in the actual elements of the world? Someone with the elemental ice or water power is making their water out of ki and not hydrogen and oxygen (or at least that's how I've always perceived it...staff might have a completely different opinion).

I guess I just don't see how removing oxygen would impede someone's ability to use their ki (aside from asphyxiating them, I guess).

If to add something here, going down to molecular level would not only require ki specialization, it would require the Rinnegan version of ki specialization.

*removes dork glasses*

Real message: 99,9% sure it'll need ki specialization.

This.

It's made of magic, basically.

So I Cant Starve a fire of Air(WIND)?

Thought I had control of it. Slightly from my initial explination.

I was thinking Of a SOON to come NPC(FIre user) vs MN fight and got to thinking. Logic IS of there is no air the fire dies. And IRC I CAN do something like that.

Water..I wasn't to sure about. But had to bring it up

The general practice in these things (at least in MY experiences), and the accepted rule in pretty much every single pen and paper RPG and tabletop is that stuff like this (ie: magic, ki and etc) work the way it does because THAT'S HOW IT WORKS.

Magic missile doesn't seek out it's foes perfectly because it hones in on their heat signature, it works because it WORKS. That's why it's magic, not science.

That's the whole mystique of magic. Or, in this case, KI.

I assumed as elements it would work like usual magic rules, each element has a strength and weakness (water > fire, lightning > water). Not too sure, really, I don't think about it too much. I'd assume that wind would have some effect on fire, and maybe you could have a move that effects the air and the properties of the air.

Gozen is correct.

If you managed to stifle the standard energy source (assuming they are using it) then they can just feed it with their own Ki energy anyway.

There currently is no elemental hierarchy, so each element is equally as effective against each other. As for removing oxygen from a water molecule, no, that would require Ki Specialization and Lightning, or Electrical ki.

It's true that you can snuff out normal fires, but people who use elemental ki can either manipulate an existing element or create it from their own ki.

Also in most cases yes wind can affect fire and snuff it out but in MOST cases it feeds the fire increasing its strength. Think along the lines of Naruto and Sauske. They told naruto his wind element would only increase the strength of sauske's fire element.

And as far as I know if you blast a fire ball with wind then your forcing oxygen from the air to blow with it and whatever else is in the path of your wind blast.
