The Account Suspension

As you may or may not know, the forums were offline for most of today because the Chubbs account was suspended by our host. I'll leave any technical details to Josh or Waff should they feel like elaborating, but there's nothing to worry about. There may be some changes to forum functionality (such as the ChatBox) but those are expected and nothing to be concerned about.

Once everything is completely sorted out, we can give a more precise explanation of what happened and will happen in the future.

Basically, Chubbs was taxing the hosts servers to the point where they had to suspend our account. This could be for a number of reasons and steps have been taken to alleviate that.

Most noticeably is the absence of the ChatBox. It may or may not come back later, but for now it will remain disabled. Less noticeably, and Waff will have to correct me if I'm wrong on this one, is the script that automatically updates CA. I believe it was running every couple minutes and that has been reduced to, I think, once a week.

We don't anticipate any more issues with account suspension with these changes having taken place. Obviously it was an unexpected and annoying situation for everyone, but it should be business as usual now.

We don't anticipate any more issues with account suspension with these changes having taken place. Obviously it was an unexpected and annoying situation for everyone, but it should be business as usual now.

Mostly this. CA updates every 30 minutes instead of every 5... this may change. Chatbox has been removed, this is hopefully only temporary. The archives are disabled, and searches are limited to one every minute. You may also experience an error on the forums indicating that the server load is too high, if you just wait a moment and refresh then everything should be back to normal.

For the most part no one should notice those changes, and I hope to restore some of the functionality over time.

Considering most people only RP once or twice a day (Those people who bother to at all), it seems to like we could just have the forum update CA like every 12 or 24 hours. In the interest of keeping forum output down, and allowing us to use features we use more often, like the chatbox.
