The Themes of the Saga

The driving themes of the saga are complete freedom and a user-driven storyline. However the saga develops, it should stay true, as far as is reasonably possible, to these themes.

The Structure of the Saga

The saga will consist of an indefinite number of 'story cycles.' Each story cycle is four days long. The first three days of a story cycle is characterized by the roleplaying of the members. During a portion of the fourth day, the saga will be closed to roleplaying. This closure will begin effective 6 PM EST, at which point staff will collaborate and advance the story where necessary. This closure will last as long as is necessary, but should not go beyond midnight of that fourth day. Most closures will probably only last a two or three hours. Each closure will be announced in the Invasion Discussion sub-forum; any and all posts made after 6 PM EST will not be considered in the advancement of the story. Members will be encouraged to be certain their post is up by 6 PM. We will give leeway here where we can, but since the story may be advanced in a particular thread, such that the post they wrote was improper (such as, the story advancement involves the death of a character that figures prominently in the previous roleplay), that post cannot be considered.

Story advancement will not need to be extremely verbose, though dramatic situations (such as the resolution of fights between members, or between members and significant NPCs) may well warrant an investment. Do this to taste. Not all threads will be advanced in a significant way. If, for example, a thread involves a fight on a particular battlefront, and the participants are neither making any significant actions, nor are they in any significant danger, the story advancement can be as simple as 'The battle rages on.' But some story advancement, in some form, must be posted. To do that, utilize the 'Chubbs Story Account' account. The password is 'peppers'.

I'm taking point as the architect of the saga; I will be involved in all determinations as to how the saga will proceed. I will make myself as available as possible on AIM or Steam or PM, especially during a period of closure. I will also be reading every post.

To facilitate this structure, each member will have her own thread (unless the member is 'teamed up' with someone else, in which case the threads may be combined; if the two members are separated, such as through the capture of one, then a new thread must be to indicate the capture; this is to make the story advancement posts as straightforward and intelligible as possible.

So that we can effectively discuss each thread, a counterpart to every story thread posted in The Invasion will be made in the Administration Discussion, of the form '<title of corresponding thread> Discussion.' Here, the architects of the saga will post comments on the storyline, potential buffs earned or debuffs incurred, and the success of particular endeavors. These threads will be entirely informal; if you read something that you loved, mention that you loved it. It will alert other architects to the post, which is probably of high quality, and will stick it in our minds for the determination of rewards later.

(This thread will be expanded later as the saga progresses)

Thoughts so far? Is anything unclear? Does something seem inefficient, or nonsensical?

All seems solid to me. If anything crosses my mind, though, I'll throw it up.
