Pokemalfia Day 3
#1
"Farfetched farfetched farfetched farfetched farfetched"

He worked furioursly at a project, just outside of the sleeping quarters of another.

He was just beginning something else when he heard it... A slight thump in the sand.

He looked behind him curious at the noise, and then he felt a thud and saw the ground getting closer...

"Happy B" was all he ever got finished with.

When the other pokemon awoke and all gathered to see it the saw the rest of the message etcheed in what seemed to be blood, and beside a Farfetch'd that had X's across his eyes.
"-elated Birthday from the Mafia..."

-------------

Mrruset has been executed! Maruset was Farfetch'd!

1. Doe
2. Kaden
3. Maruset(T)(Farfetche'd)
4. 17
5. Ashe
6. Rose
7. Kayne
8. Blue(T)(Lickitung)
9. Vad
10. King B

Players remaining: 8
Majority vote: 5

Day 3 ends Saturday the 9th at 8AM est. That means this is an extended partial day. TIme now is 6:30PM-ish EST Thursday the 7th

That makes things that much simpler. Since, by my unrefuted logic, King B, Kaden, Ashe, and myself are the least likely candidates for mafianess. So that leaves us with Vad, Rose, Kayne, and Android 17 as our prime suspects. We have a 50% chance of getting a mafia, disregarding any intelligence gathering players working for the town.

The most curious player in my mind has to be Android 17. Assuming Mal's post was not a typo, King B voted for Android 17, and the resulting tally was a resounding 0 votes. Last time I checked, 1 does not equal 0. With that in mind, I shall Lynch Android 17.

'Logic,' lol?

You, Kaden, and Ashe have done nothing but defend one another for the last several days. Now, either you're the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, or you're all trying to pull a fast one over on the townsfolk.

You did read my post the last day, right? You know, the one after Rose asked me to explain my logic, and then I did? And so far, it's "unrefuted" since nobody has offered a better explanation beyond "THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO THINK!"

If the mafia holds the real life version of Aizen from Bleach, then maybe said statements would hold water. But instead they really don't. So I'm going to act on my educated guesses unless given reason to do otherwise. Right now, it points to Android 17 being the most likely mafioso, so that's what I'll throw my chips on.

Also, holy shit I forgot this was Pokemafia.

Really your logic is still just the same crap regurgitated in every game, the only difference is you changed the names to reflect players in this game.

I'm not mafia. If I was mafia, I can assure you the mechanics of this game would be stupid broken.

The situation right now is all too perplexing to me. Kaden, John Doe and Ashe are just as suspicious to me as the others they could just be using me as a safety net because of my former inactivity. Kaden and John Doe who always shows defiance suddenly not as much in this round. That shit cray... That shit cray.

I don't care at the moment about the suspicions placed on me because I have nothing to worry about. They don't hold water, there's nothing but shots in the dark (though understandable ones), and I welcome anyone to try to piece together an argument of why they would place me as any high suspect for being a mafia, if they felt that way. I don't think anyone does, but if they want to risk looking like a mafia themselves by stretching and reaching as far as it would take to do that, then that's fine by me.

I don't mind telling you guys that I'm a Rattata, a town player. At the moment, I prefer to not say what my ability is. Its not terribly useful (though there may be a time - as I said, its rather niche) and if the mafia decides to kill me instead of someone else just in case I have a strong power and might be lying, then its a great buffer for the town to basically protect the true power roles.

Now, on to business.

There were a few things I want to point out regarding the previous day that I found interesting. First let's look at the actual votes placed, and by whom.

---

Day One ended with the following votes. Kayne, Doe, 17, and myself all created a vote of 4 against King B. These were the only votes placed.

To note, of these four votes involving these five people (Kayne, Doe, 17, Ashe, King B), the vote total still finished at exactly 4, the number we'd expect if there were no modifiers in effect.

To also note, we needed 6 votes to create a majority and lynch someone. All four of those votes happened after midnight, within 8 hours of the round ending. Six other people chose not to vote at all.

---

Day Two ended with the following votes. Rose, Maruset, 17, and Kayne all voted for King B, finishing at 4 votes. Ashe voted for Ashe, creating 1 vote. King B voted for Android 17, ending with a curious 0 vote.

---

Android 17 used a phrase that included the word "Ghost" in it. I normally wouldn't care, but this is a game where "catch words" can be used as a trigger for an evolution. Its quite an unusual phrase at best and "ghost" is a Pokèmon type. I don't know yet if this had any actual effect, but 30 minutes later, someone as Tentacool evolved into Tentacruel.

Honestly, I don't see what the word "ghost" would have to do with said jellyfish in any way. But something happened that activated this evolution and the person had to decide then and there whether to allow it or to "press B". They chose to allow it.

I want to offer a speculation that I just considered, actually. We know that Android 17 ended the day with a vote of 0, despite King B voting for him. It may be possible that he is Tenta and as Tentacool, he could reduce votes against him by one. I see that this evolution occurred immediately following his first post of this phase, so whatever happened should have occurred within the first four posts of that thread.

Is he a mafia that triggered his evolution to Tentacruel if he killed someone? I can't say, I mean, someone died Day One and Tentacool didn't evolve. What specially happened? Was that anything that involved Android 17 at all or is that just completely circumstantial? I really don't know, but I wanted to post my thoughts.

---

Here is something that I do know and will put this information on the table to let you guys contemplate. I apologize now if this creates any bad blood, but this is a gesture for the other town members here. Rose had a power. All I have been told about it by the official GM note is that he chose to activate it and target me with it. It will allow myself and Rose to communicate outside of the normal forum rules, using things like PMs or Mumble or whatever we want. From what I can tell, its similar to the system that Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee had in Pokèmalfia 1, though its entirely possible that its more like what I did for Mordekaiser with his Ghost in one of my games.

He's the only person I'm allowed to communicate with through this. This link will remain until one of us dies. As best as I can tell, it doesn't have any effect on my town faction so I really can't say if Rose is a mafia member using a power on me or a townie or anything, really. I don't suppose I have any reason to think he's lying about it.

Now here's what I've been told by him regarding it. He says that the ability is called Feint. He says that he is Scyther. He says that the ability required him to immediately choose someone to establish a PM link with at the beginning of the game. I told him that I found that odd, since that power sounds like something that would be quite obviously a Psychic power, someone like an Abra or maybe a Ghost power. I informed him then and there that I was Rattata.

I bring this up without revealing my own ability because mine still has the possibility of being useful. His ability is already used, so it being public really doesn't cause any problem for anyone. We will still be able to communicate between the two of us all we want (though we haven't since Day One). There's no "power play" that will come from it. I still find it odd that its supposedly Scyther that can do this, and have expressed such. I don't know if that's who he is, given that I wasn't told such by Mal.

The reason I'm skeptical is because, if we all remember, last game when he was mafia, he did the exact same thing (or wanted to) by trying to claim that he was Varus with some power that he created. Its quite possible that he's doing the same thing again in hopes of winning an ally.

The cool part is that when I die, either to mafia execution or town lynch, you guys WILL come back to this post and use what I'm telling you.

---

I don't know what my opinion is on the rest of you. Android 17 seems very suspicious given that something reduced a vote against him and he's very aggressively trying to accuse me.

On the flip side, Doe made a wild claim about how he doesn't suspect myself, King B, or Kaden of being mafia. I don't think I quite agree with his reason, and here is why. Just because Kaden and myself withdrew votes against an easy kill does not mean that we couldn't be mafia. I want the town to consider the possibility just for the sake of full disclosure. Its entirely possible that we are both mafia (I'm not, but I'm being hypothetical here) and lead a vote with a valid reason just to distance ourselves from a third mafia and then withdrew votes to save him. Its also possible that we are mafia and withdrew those certain votes against someone we would know is town just to be in good light with the town.

That said, I guess I don't like the logic of either hypothetical. The first scenario doesn't acknowledge that Kayne was who began the vote against King B, and the second is less likely because we could easily have just let him die and still tried to get in good light without being questioned.

Here's the thing though... I can't really say an opinion of Kaden, because I only know and see the same thing you guys do, which apparently is him not posting all that much.

Here's who I find acting a bit odd, actually, so I'll go ahead and make my top three known.

1. Android 17
2. Rose
3. King B

I've stated my concerns about the first two, but here's what I find odd about the third. Its not so much that he's agreeing with 17, who as far as I'm concerned is quite obviously trying to create a "mafia trio" out of myself, Kaden, and Doe on nothing more than Doe's speculation that we aren't. Android 17 keeps pointing out that me, Doe, and Kaden are "buddy buddy" and then King B is jumping on that as well, but they are both completely ignoring that for any times that Doe has stated that he doesn't think me or Kaden (or himself) are mafia, he has also stated that he doesn't think King B is either. Yet this is something that 17 and King B himself are both glossing over while pointing fingers at everyone else on the list that makes a convenient list of three. I find this very suspicious.

Rose doesn't fit any of these thoughts that the other two do. Also, on Day 2, only Rose and 17 voted for King B, while King B voted for 17 himself.

I don't know. This creates some "randomness" and a good split between them. So its entirely possible they aren't in any way related.

Um... This post is massive... Any other thoughts of mine will go into another post, because this is rather a convoluted jumble as is.

Also, just for clarification, I didn't defend anyone in day 1. If I did defend anyone, it was King B. Really, though, all I did was point out logic that had since become faulty.

Oh, I also find it odd that King B gets out of certain death and immediately starts jumping on the logic that if we lynch vote him at all afterwards, then we are clearly mafia and looking for an easy kill. If he gets lynched and turns out to be a townie, then sure, I agree that any of us will look suspicious that have voted for him (and remember, the only reason he DIDN'T get lynched the first time is due to me and Kaden backing out as soon as we noticed that he had posted, barring any kind of vote modifier). I'm also going to accept anyone that backed out after because people read posts whenever they happen to read them.

However, it wasn't till after the King B started posting that Android 17 (and then Kayne) both posted new votes against him back to back. Rose repeated that he wasn't changing his vote to anyone else despite this development as well.

Note: I started the day voting for Maruset first (I had voted for King B on Day 1 due to his inactivity after Kayne started the votes against him). I changed from Maruset to King B after Maruset posted. I changed from King B to myself after both had posted. I remained consistent to my reasoning that I was only looking at the two inactives at the moment. I don't view my votes towards either as "suspicious".

I think I would actually remove King B from my 3 suspicions at the moment, possibly placing Maruset in that spot simply because he's still very much not posting while voting against King B as well, alongside 17 who has my strongest suspicion.

I mean, you totally COULD still be mafia, I have no way of actually knowing or not. Or maybe I do. Anyway, my reasons for not suspecting me, Kaden, and Ashe is that we opposed the most efficient and safest route to a mafia victory. The longer the game drags out, the more likely it is for the mafia to lose (typically, since the town has a higher percentage of correctly lynching a mafioso, as well as more time for investigative roles to have information). I feel like I'm repeating myself (because I am), but by retracting our votes for a quick and easy lynch, we just draw more attention to ourselves, which is bad mafia play. Mafias are supposed to hide in the crowd, not stand out like a sore thumb.

King B is more suspicious than the previous three, but I still don't think he's a mafia because everyone voted for him. Obviously, all members of the mafia were involved in the lynching, but it doesn't entirely rule out his innocence. For instance, King B could be mafia, and his partner in crime could have voted for him when it seemed hopeless for him to escape. None of what I'm saying proves anyone's innocence, but it points me in the what seems to be the best direction to take.

And that direction is right towards Android 17.

For a note, here's my suspicion list in order from most suspicious to least.

1. Android 17
2. Vad
3. Rose
4. Kayne
5. King B
6. Ashe
7. Kaden
8. John Doe

I completely overlooked that Maruset was dead, so I guess that removes him from my suspicion list. I would possibly put Kayne in that third place then based on voting habits.

If I were mafia, I would of course let my fellow mafia members know of my exact ability. Now I will disclose this information publicly to let you know why that isn't one of the possible motives. My pokemon ability involves abruptly ending either a day phase or night phase which means I could have used this ability to save my life had those two not voted for me. They also didn't need to shed light upon themselves by voting for me if I did decide to use my ability on day 2. At the end of the day, we gon' do what we came to do... ain't that right?

[COLOR="White"]Just to clarify my voting patterns: I'm a noob at the mafia games in general. Right now, my strategy has been to just vote against people who are not being very active. That would be defined as maybe a post or less. King, the only reason why I voted against you in the first place is because you hadn't posted anything at all until around the very last minute (exaggerating just a little. It was late in phase that you actually posted). This may have been wrong of me, but I took into account your activity from the last game in which you dropped out pretty quickly without a peep. However, by the time you made it apparent you weren't going to immediately drop off, you started posting, but people saw the reasoning and voted. However, you missed out getting voted out by under votes. Which is great, because if you're going to be active, then no need to get the boot, right?

I wish I could screenshot and prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am just a townie. Voting me off would be a move in the wrong direction. Let's not turn this into another mafia win by chopping off the good guys. At this point, I am still unsure of who to vote for, but I do have some suspicions. Just don't want to put it all out there like that and have people turn it back on me, vote to lynch me, and everybody jumps on that bandwagon.

But fuck it. If anyone should be looked at closely, I would say Doe, Rose and 17 as prime suspects. I do not want to put in a vote just yet, though. If it's all good with the rest of you guys, I'll hold off until tomorrow until I make a final decision.

Yeah, I mean, what you say makes great sense, but I'm sure you see why it also feels suspicious, namely for the reason that you stated - we don't know how to read your posts since you are new. I do feel that the camp that others have listed (and Vad too, though he never really posts much, he tends to stay nearly silent most games and, from what my perspective is, the moment he starts talking people start more or less insulting him and calling him an idiot, so I don't blame him at all, to be honest) is the most likely area to find the mafia, but that doesn't mean that I think everyone in that section actually IS mafia. Just that those two or three that are will most likely be found in that section of the pie, if we were to cut off a chunk.

Lynch John Doe

If you look at his explanation post, all he does is explain why Ashe and I looked innocent and then lumped himself with us. He's trying to create innocence through association by pointing out plays that mafia wouldn't logically make and then loosely attaching them to himself. His discussion of suspects, in his first post today, in definitives is also unlike his usual pattern of "speech" in these games.

I dunno... it usually seems like he's trying to rally people. This time it just seems like he's trying to manipulate them. I don't have any real logic beyond my gut, but there it is.

All that said, though, I would feel a lot better about not trying to lynch 17 if he would tell us what his power was and under what conditions he reduced his vote count. That power is potentially devastating to the town's chances of winning this game. Honestly, it also has something to do with why I'm less willing to immediately vote for 17. I'm not convinced Mal would give a mafia member the power to reduce his votes. It could have been done completely at random, but... well... gut and all that.

I am trying to rally people. I want to fucking win this time, because I'm tired of losing mafia games because either people don't listen/read, or people don't even play at all.

The "definitive" aspects of my accusations in my first post were more cocky banter because I wanted people to either A) defend themselves, B) try to provide the town with better logic than my own, or C) reveal new information.

What I've learned is that Ashe claims he and Rose can PM between themselves, and that Ashe is Rattata and Rose is Scyther. Lying about your Pokemon is risky, since it's entirely possible that the Pokemon you pick could be in this game as somebody else, and also because it makes you extremely suspicious if an investigative role catches you lying. King B can end a day or night phase early. That's a power that has been on both Town and Mafia sides, but I don't think he moves up or down my suspicion list.

I too would like to know the details behind 17's vote reducing powers. As of right now, he's the highest threat, since it will be harder to lynch him as the game goes on.
