My PS2 broke about one month ago, I was heart broken, and this happened right after I bought THUG. Then yesterday my mom took it to Zellers and said she just bought (actually year ago) and got a brand new one for fre and it was the combo pack so I got ATV Offroad Fury 2 and PS2 Online. Does anybody wanna play me on those later btw.

i'm getting my ass kicked on ATV right now.

When mine broke down, it could be fixed...I still wish I had enough for that new PS2 coming out...Well, I do, but i'm saving for something else.

Note: New PS2 is pretty much...a smaller PS2, 6 of them can fit in an Xbox... Big Grin

New PS2 has a built-in network card.

Also, if your PS2 is suffering from the dreaded "Disc Read Error" syndrome; ie your PS2 can still operate, just can't read any discs, then you're probably a good candidate for a free repair. My PS2 crapped out on me, and it was over three years old. Sony asked me to ship it to them, and it took five days round trip for them to send it back. That's five days total. There and back. And it works. Half my PS2 is brand-new now!

Problem is, on the first-gen PS2's, they used a faulty laser assembly which has a tendency to fail later in it's life. Sony decided rather than face any legal action, they'd be a real nice company and offer to do repairs free of charge.

So, you should seriously consider giving them a call to see if they won't fix it up for ya. The least you can do is try, after all.

That's what happened to mine, but It would be a 10-20 day round trip, and this was faster. Plus me and my friend did a couple of things to my PS2 to try to make it work before reading the manual and finding out we weren't supposed to do it.

Ah. I call that Retard Electronics 101. =\

BTW, Sony returns everything by air. So... it's like... unless you live out in the boonies, you should get max. a 7-day round trip. Sad

Companies tend to exagerate so you'll be all surprised and happy when it gets to you early and thier ass is covered if something happens that its a little late.

My ps2 stopped reading blue-backs at the end of the 3 year warranty I bought. So I called Best Buy, they sent me a mailing label, and I mailed my ps2 out. When I bought the ps2 it was 300 (321.xx with tax) and so when they sent me a 'gift voucher' this past year, I got it for 321. Now at the time the ps2 bundle with atv and online was 200... so I had an extra 100 to spend on random shit. But they were having a deal. If you buy a ps2, a memory card, and an extra controller, you get 2 free games from a table that was set up. I got Dynasty Tactics 2 and Socom. I also bought 2 cd's (HIM and Splender), Jackie Brown, and a Digital Camera case. All for free...

Pikkon. If you don't already have a PS2, get a PS2.

Simply put;

PS2 > XBox

And Gamecube doesn't even seem to be trying to compete. Sad

dude you just pop the cd into the PS2 and you play it....

But more to the point, it's your money do what you want with it...both systems are great, but before you go buy one of them look at your options. Playstation has more games....x-box is cheaper...In my opinion why buy something that's cheaper that has less games...

But it's up to you Pikkon..

X-Box has a few really good games. X-Box has the most potential for good games on any system. PS2 has a nice library yes but it seems less... efficient for the lack of a better word, than the X-Box. I own both though. If I had to scrap one i dont think I could choose. Knights of the Old Republic and Halo(and possibly halo-2 by the sound of it... not to mention KotOR is coming out with a sequal soon) are good enough reasons to buy it by themselves. Gamecube just makes me mad by getting all the good franchises.

I like Gamecube the best of all the systems, but I've been a pretty huge Nintendo fan since the NES.

*shrug*

All of the system have their high points. PS2 has the widest variety of games, (and all of the good RPGs, aside from ToS) X-Box dominates the other two in terms of graphical power and eventually it will draw people who actually know how to make games, and the Gamecube has some of the best games in terms of actual gameplay.

And yes, I can't wait for Halo 2, myself.
