Halo 2
#1
Ha ha! I avoided all sorts of long lines by pre-ordering a copy. I've been playing it all day and I'll probably end up playing it all night. Mwhahahahhahahahaha!

Yeah, it's pretty damn good, but I've got to stop playing. It's only been a day and I think I'm about halfway through the game. =\

I dont preorder anything since I buy rarely. The only game I ever bought was Curse of Monkey Island and even then I had a bad computer.

The shield is there to replace having health. I think its a lot better than have to worry about health packs and the like. It also makes the energy weapons more useful because they tear through the shields quicker. In the last game there was no point in using any of the convenant weapons. They seem to be significantly more useful now.

As for the falling damage, I fucking hate falling damage. It's getting so ridiculous these days that I want to just start stabing people in the eyes. When you can't walk off a curb without taking damage, no things are screwed up. And in a game like Halo, there's really no point in it. When you're playing something like CS, which tries to be uber realistic, then it makes more sense. But for games like UT, Quake, Halo, and the like, it serves no real purpose.

I haven't used any of the vehicles yet.

Yeah, just for reference I'm not some uber Halo fan, but I concede that if Master Chief can flip a 60-ton tank with his own strength, he can take a damn good fall, and then get run over by a minivan, and get right back up.

Heh. Minivan. *Hides*

I've never actually managed to flip a tank in that game.

I was playing Halo 2 with 8 guys in the dorm.

The sword kicks ass if you can get in somebody's face and tear them a new asshole. I also loved the dual weapons feature, you can get some pretty awesome combos of weapons, like dual neelders, or an energy pistol and your SMG, blast em with the pistol and them finish off their shieldless ass with the not as sucky as before SMG. Lots of fun, killed a bunch of time doing it.

The sword is the greatest thing ever. My favorite weapon by far. Especially if you have some of that invisibility going on. Sneak up behind someone, then cleave 'em in two. I was kind of annoyed that the sword runs out of energy, though; just means you gotta choose your shots.

No Halo 3, dude.

And Rad, in the original Halo, try driving the Scorpion tank in Blood Gulch badly enough to flip 'er over. Or just plant a cache of grenades beneath it. Once it's upside-down, you walk up to it, and press "x" (I think), and you'll flip the thing over.

Oh, and why is pistol-whipping more effective than the assault rifle!?

I know that. I asked why.

Think about it. One would imagine firing 50 rounds of large ammunition would horribly destroy anyone who got in said ammunition's way. Instead, it barely does anything, yet clocking some chump on the back of the head with the butt of a pistol will kill them, regardless of how much health/shielding they have. I mean, wtf!?

Master chief is freakishly strong and... stuff. There are shields too... I dunno. Who cares.

To be able to fire quickly with low recoil/high accuracy the shells have to be packed with very little gunpowder. Soo... an assualt rifle would have little effect on someone with armor/shield especially from a distance. o_O/

And plus, getting hit in the back of the head is a bad place to get hit. With your cerebellum and brain stem vunerable from that angle. A good whack to the back of the head could cause loss of balance, loss of sight, loss of consciousness and death. Not to mention damage to several other areas of the brain as it is shuffled around in your skull like a pinball..

Not to mention the fact that the pistol was ridiculously overpowered in the first game. It's not even funny how unbalanced that thing is. You can unload 60 rounds of assault rifle into someone and they won't die, but two rounds from the pistol will kill 'em easy. Also, the pistol in that game is a 12mm, while the assault rifle only 9mm. I think that's how they justified such a ridiculous weapon. It seems like the brought the power of the pistol down in Halo 2, along with the sniping ability it has.

So far I like all the changes they've made to weapons in that game. I think it helps make it a lot more balanced.

Oh, and a melee attack to someone's back kills them instantly. Doesn't matter which weapon. I don't use the pistol (ever) so I know it's not just that gun.

What the fuck did they do to my Banshee and Scorpian? The flying controls have changed a lot for the Banshee, you can't fly backwards anymore! And if you're resting on the ground and not pushing the control stick, it moves forward! What the hell is that? Plus they weakened the Scorpian's cannon. It takes two shots to kill a ghost at long or medium range. Although, I love the boost option that all Covenant vehicles have, even the Wraiths.

I think the ghosts are also a good bit stronger than they used to be. I don't mind the Banshee losing the ability to fly backwards, since now it can strafe. I think that's an awesome addition. I think boosting is more of a gimick than anything else, but its still a lot of fun.

And yes, being able to jump onto a ghost and hijack it is awesome. It makes it easier to fight against vehicles; something that was needed.
