Yes, the first post I've made in the Asylum in a while... meh, well anyways I wanted to get a little 'serious' conversation started on something that I have seen in the little while that I've been away. I was watching TV a few days ago and this thing called "Attack of the Show" on G4 comes on, I was bored as hell so I decided to check it out. They featured the likely events of the Star Wars movies as a possible future for us pathetic peoples, it was interesting to say in the least. The guest was a scientific... erm... 'person' when it came to talking about all this jest from the movies compaired to reality, saying reading people's minds would come sometime in the next hundred years or so based on nano junk implanted into people's minds.
Oh dear! A fan-boy's paradise, right? Maaaybe. He even went as far as to say the 'force' that binds the universe together, made popular and known by some Final Fantasy games as 'Dark Matter', could be something realistic that we could control at one point. As the interview progressed onward he got into the concepts of how ships wouldn't be able to fly unless they held some sort of anti-gravity properties on themselves... this made my little mind think...
Gravity, isn't it a force that's everywhere? Something that the universe depends upon for exsistance? There's a definate pull from both the Earth and Sun as everyone could plainly see, something that could also explain why people's skin begins to sag as they age, but there's something that's been picking at me. Magnets have two different sides to them, one that attracts and the other that pushes back, could there be a way to make something that generated the ability to push gravity away as well? Not many people have to take what I'm saying seriously of course ^_~ just something I thought I might throw out there for a discussion on what others believed. Even more so from the college-college grad few. Please and thank you.

Well according to Einstein's theory of general relativity, things don't create gravity. They merely bend space around them. This was observed in a solar eclipse several years ago, as the stars around the sun and moon, from our perspective, bent inwards, and then when the eclipse ended, they moved back out again.
I don't think you can have an "opposite gravity, or push stuff away. But, gravity can be created. I guess someday, humans may have some huge breakthrough that shatters all our current theories and allows us to bend space itself.
Now I've got a headache. Einstein's stuff just destroys everything you've ever been taught.

Huh, I haven't read up too much on gravity in general, just the tiny bit they're forced to teach below high school level. From my stand point I always thought that everything had an opposite such as something like dark and light, wet and dry, things that cancel each other out if brought together in a way.

Steps in*
Anti-gravity mass, a susbstance said to weight next to nothing, or weight one hell of a lot.
Also said, that the material can be used to generate extreme ammounts of power for fuel & general power.
But, the material is highly unstable, & can go along the lines of pure pultoniam sitting next to a bomb.
*Choughs, then steps back*
Failing that, who gives a crap?

Have you read the bible? I plan on doing that this summer to form a final opinion.
What were the key physical elements in the big bang occurring? (This doens't include metaphysical.)

Actually did you know the guy who came up with the big bang theory rejected it after looking into it more . He said it would be mathematically impossible. He even had charts and stuff.

Nothing is EVER impossible. One example of this is how Black Holes destroy anything we thought we ever knew about physics. For example, how can something slow down time?

It was proven at least hundreds of years ago--possibly thousands--that the faster you go teh more time slows down, I believe the Pythagoreans cincluded that. The Pythagoreans also proved--mathematically--that the Earth was spherical over two thousand years before Galileo did so, and even two thousand before Copernsicus put out the idea.
Many people have probably decided that things made no sense so they dismissed tehir own theories or theorems, even if they were true.

Pikkon you don't bevile in God!!?!? *teh shocked* then how was the uneverse created? a big bunch of nothing rammed into another bunch of nothing and unverse is created?
Thats something man cannot answer.
- It's not the beliefs that are true, it's the soul hidden behind it -
There is not just one god, so how is there a God named god that is a god over all the god's?
Wasn't Zeus (sp?) the father of all god's? or something like that, correct me if im wrong.
That's right. The Greek god Zeus was supposed to the farther of all god's.But who exactly say's that any other god may not have created them..
But then again, who the hell say's they exsist?

Personally, I dont put myself anywhere. There si a possibility that god exists, there is a possibility that he doesnt. However, there is a great advantage to the "doesnt exist" part. You see, all religions started beacuse people could not explain why is there thunder, why is there a sun, why are there stars etc. The proof of this is the most spread book in the world, the bible. Do you remember the story how god worked for 6 days and then rested the 7th day? In that story, he is potrayed putting up stars, the sun etc. In that time, it was an excceptable explanation. Today however, there is one tiny problem. We know how things work. We know why is there thunder, rain, sun, stars, moon etc. Thats why there are less and less religious people beacuse people have the opinion that all the things around us where not made by a supernatural power, but where a result of a natural process.
Still however, I think that no matter what, you still have to show respect to your religion since it is the religion of your ancestors. Thats why I celebrate Orthodox holidays.
EDIT: Oh almost forgot. There is also a third option besides "does" and "doesnt". A famous german philosopher (dont know his name) said: "God is dead." So its a possibility that god did exist, but died.

Sorry, game over. Religious discussion is not allowed in the asylum.
