How much do you Bench
#1
Yeah so I was in the Dojang today training, getting back into shape for a test I'm going to be taking in the next few months.

So yeah after many months of being lazy and sitting down and drinking beer waiting for my leg to heal I go back and hit up the bench press.

Most I've ever done was 450 lbs as a set of 10....

after months of not working out I'm down to 355 lbs three sets of 10.

-_- I got away to go.

I'm a little guy, weigh only 135 lbs., though I can bench 155 lbs.

Not that it matters in the Military, I could probably pwn just about everyone, with the exception of maybe Vegeta in Diamond, normal, and reverse push ups, in a time limit of one minute....not to mention running

I hit 650 when I wasn't trying, my score is the seperating line between the juniors and seniors so I'd say I have a chance.

1000 lbs. made up of five different lifts, so it isn't straight bench. =P

Dude I'm talking straight bench, how much weight can you do.

I doubt you can hit 650 by actually putting that much weight on the bar and doing it. I've been weight training since I was 13 with the addition of years of martial arts and my max is only 450 in my life time.

Do you just do Tae Kwon Do, or something else as well Uubster? I don't do those in TKD...but I do it in a few different martial arts.

I care about my muscles too much to destroy them.

what are you a stick o.O seriously it's good to build muscle, if not on a large scale enough to make you be able to bench at least half your body weight.

artifical ways? meaning enhancers? sorry not for me...I got to take piss tests before I enter tournys and shit.

Not to mention, why work so hard on your body if your going to kill it slowly from the inside with that shit.

All that working out is is breaking down your muscles then letting them build themselves back up stronger again, little give and take system, it's worth it in the long run. Plus if you're like me then you'll love that feeling of being sore, knowing that it's progress in the making.

I haven't benched since I was wrestling, but I could do 190 regularly, and only like one or two 250's before I got tired

KV, you're kind of an idiot. Tongue

It's a good thing to regularly put some stress on your muscles. Especially considering most of us don't live rugged enough to build muscle by normal means like in the old days.

Taxing your body to the limit (or just working out too often), I agree, is dangerous. But to say weight lifting is bad for you is... not bright.

That's hardcore. Might you take on an apprentice to learn your bench crushing ways, O great Master of Random Acts of Senseless Violence?

Lifting is good, too much is bad, that is why when lifting and working let's say your arms and chest, the next day you work cardio and legs giving time for the parts you worked before the amount of rest required.

you can do sit ups and push ups daily without waiting for rest.

...What?

Actually, It's scientifically proven that people who are 'fit' survive longer than the average person. O.o

There are no adverse effects of a normal training regimen. There is a difference between simply working out and pushing yourself to the extreme limits, you know.

Are you just arguing for the sake of argument or what?
