History of Drath

Drath exists as the largest continent on our world. Its shores were overwhelmed long ago by mountain ranges that blocked off the insides peoples from the ocean and forced them to thrive on the few rivers within the continent. Humans are the only race that managed to survive the voyage across the ocean and over the mountains to Drath. The earliest known races on Drath were the Elves, Trolls, Dragons, and Dwarves. These three races existed in relative harmony for centuries until the Goblins escaped from the Underworld and emerged from high above the dwarven highlands. Banding with the Trolls, the two armies ransacked the entire continent for decades

Although the goblin and troll populations were eventually decimated, new problems loomed on the horizon. It was about this time that humans arrived from an unknown land across the ocean and settled with the elves. Relative peace existed on Drath as the human race grew stronger beneath the shadow of the elves. It was around this time that the first Dragoons?an amalgamation of a humanoid and dragon?came into existence. The method of creation for the fusion was unknown for decades, and soon enough, the powerful hybrid?s existence was cast aside when news of a new war broke out.

The War of Magic, fought between the humans and elves, was a rather swift campaign due to the stunning level of arcane knowledge the relatively young race of man had developed. Following the fighting, new lines were drawn as alliances were formed. Over the decades to come, a radical new leader, a dragoon by the name of Rinallo Kallak, would rise and seize dominion over the races of dragon and dragoon. To the north, Kri Sona would solidify its power even as their hated rivals, the dwarves, tried desperately to avenge the exterminated elves.

This brings us to the present day: A time where the next generation I slowly coming to age, and with them, a slew of new idealists and warriors. As one of those idealists will you help restore order to the war ravaged continent of Drath? Or will you dedicate your life to seeing your race completely obliterate its foes? The future of Drath is in yours hands now.

Races

Humans ? Human?s are the most technologically advanced race on Drath. They inhabit the nation of Kri Sona. They are the most suitable race for magic use. They do not get a long to well with the dwarves, seeing as how the Human?s wiped out the elves who had a long alliance with the Dwarves.
Starting Race

Dragons ? The Dragons are one of the oldest known races on Drath. They inhabit the nation of Kallak. They are wise and powerful beasts and have long gotten along with both dwarves and humans. They share a nation with their half brethren, the Dragoon?s. Dragons have a special ability to bond with human?s, which creates a dragoon. The Dragons are capable of most magic, though not as on a large scale like the humans. Their limit on magic is not as strict as the Dragoon?s, Thanks to Rinallo.
Starting Race: Age 1 year, about the size of a Great Dane.

Dwarfs ? The Dwarvan society is not as sophisticated as the human?s. They inhabit the nation of Brutania. The Dwarfs absolutely despise the human?s, mainly for wiping out their allies, the elves. The Dwarfs are very built and short, but that does not stop them. They are incapable of using magic however.
Starting Race

Goblins ? Spawned from the Underworld, these creatures are extremely resourceful. They are very good persuaders and are one of the soul reason?s why the elves no longer exist. Goblins are sneaky little creatures and are about the same height as dwarves; just no where near as built. They are any color you can think of, which is odd for a goblin.
Starting Race

Trolls ? One of the bigger races on Drath, but not as dumb as you may think. There are different sects of Trolls throughout the continent. Rock Trolls, Forest Trolls, and Sand Trolls. The Rock Troll?s work for the Dwarfs in the fields and during battle. Sand Trolls roam the desserts of Kri Sona. Forest Trolls live in the forests of the nation of Kallak.
Sand, Rock, and Forest Trolls are all Starting Races

Dragoons ? The most unique race on all of Drath. They are the finished product of a human and Dragon bonding. The leader, Rinallo Kallak, is the leader of both the dragons and the Dragoons. The Dragoons get along well enough with their half brethren, the dragons, but not so well with the humans. The dragoon?s are capable of some magic, though most of it is banned.
--Non-playable race until acquisition of Dragon/Human Bond technique

Elves ? Although considered to have been utterly exterminated by their former human allies during the War of Magic, nowadays it has become apparent that a number of elves have managed to escape that bloodbath. Where they live or how they survived unscathed is only, but constant rumors persist that they live in the Stonevale Mountains near their ancestral home of Kri Sona.
--Non-playable race

Demons ? The depths of the Underworld are policed by an amalgamation of differing demons and devils. All of which vary in size, shape, and ferocity. Chief among them is Hades?who rules the Underworld with an iron fist.

Joining:

All right, first and foremost, thank you for showing interest in joining The Chronicles of Drath. The information detailed below is how to properly sign-up for a character, and upon completion of this form, post it in the join forum located on the Roleplay boards. A staff member will review your application and give you the go-ahead to register or not. If your application is denied, please don?t lose hope, just ask staff what you need to improve on and then try again,

--Race: First off, you need to pick a race. The selectable races include Human, Dwarf, Dragon, Goblin, and Troll. Be wary on what race you pick, as each has its unique pros and cons. For example, all human characters start in Kri Sona, and all Dwarf characters start out in Brutania. Furthermore, Trolls and Goblins are viewed as outlander races by all three main nations. All characters will begin as young adults (exception being dragons, so make sure to check out the Information page for further details).

--Name: Now that you have a race, pick a name for your new character.

--Appearance: Well now that you have a race picked out, you have all the power in the world to shape your character to your own personal liking. Just make sure they actually look like their race in the end! This means that your human character cannot have spikes jutting from his fists, and your troll can?t be three feet tall.

--Starting Location: If you aren?t a human or dwarf, you get to choice which of the three nations you wish to begin your adventure from (Kri Sona, Brutania, or Kallak). If you signed up as a human or dwarf, you?ll begin in your respective nation.

--Background: Now that you?ve decided the outward appearance of your character and where he lives, tell us all about the earlier years of his life. Was it abuse as a child that fueled his dark inclinations? Or did some injustice he witness drive him to pick up the shield and sword and become a champion of the people? Enlighten us and be very detailed, because remember, this is the section where you tell us why your character is how he is and why he thinks like he thinks.

--Starting Weapon: Feel free to pick any basic weapon that stems from the middle ages (i.e. broadsword, longbow, morning star, fist-mounted claws, hand age, spear, etc.). Although this weapon will merit you no increases in attributes like shop items, you will need it to start carving your legacy.

--Fighting Style: Not everyone enters a fight with the only intention of running up and endlessly hacking their foe until he dies. Most competent warriors have tweaked their skills and unique pros and cons into their own combat form. Feel free to invent your character?s style of fighting, as it will help greatly when you find yourself in combat against a player-controlled opponent.

--Three Weapon Proficiencies: These are three skills you possess when it comes to the weapons you have, and it includes your starting weapon and melee combat. Once you?ve developed a style of fighting, try coming up with three means of epitomizing that technique. You can design three types of unique, specialized attacks for you new character that will set him apart from all the other faceless dredges that inhabit Drath.

--Contact information: Now we?d prefer you list some contact information such as your Email, AIM, or MSN name, so we have a place to reach you, but this information is optional (although you will have to supply an actual email account during the registration phase, you can choose to conceal it from the eyes of other members).

--Roleplaying sample: Now we?d like a measure of how competent you are when it comes to writing. Therefore, as the last part of your application, we would like a short sample (250-300 words) of how you write. The only requirement content-wise, is that you include the character you are signing up as in your sample. You cannot use content you wrote on other websites or write about something utterly random. Remember that here at the Chronicles of Drath, we write in third person, past tense, and all applications that don?t follow those simple specifications will be denied.

Got all that information completed? Well just post the thread, and wait. Do not register unless a staff member tells you to. Failure to heed this humble request will result in termination of your application.

Places:

Kri Sona- the youngest of the three nations that exist upon the continent of Drath, Kri Sona stands as a marvel to technological and scientific advancement. The multitude of settlements is connected by an intricate web of brick roads. Originally inhabited by a race of elves, that race has long since been extirpated from Drath. The two races grew symbiotically over the centuries until growing suspicions about one another led to an all-out war. Though they held a numerical advantage, the elves had underestimated how much information the human's had horded from them. With their magics (which had grown vastly superior due to secret studies), the race of man completely obliterated their elven allies.

Unlike the rather archaic dwarves and dragoons that live to the southeast and southwest respectively, the race of man has developed at a highly accelerated rate when its comes to architecture, medicine, weaponry, and studies in the arcane magicks. The borders are safely guarded by strings of reinforced walls and magically-employed defensive towers. Listed below are a few key locations within the walled nation of Ikri Sona.

---The capitol city of Kri Sona, Sesarna, was erected at the foot of the Stonevale mountain range. Although originally nothing but a mere settlement for the nomadic people from across the sea, the citizens eventually managed to empower themselves through the knowledge they slowly assimilated from the native elven race. When the elves were exterminated in the War of Magic, the humans rebuilt the war-ravaged city as a massive, magical citadel. Nowadays it is often referred to as ?The Jewel of Drath," because of its multitude of ivory towers, stained-glass, and ornate structures. Within the city resides the High Council, a group of wizards led by the Archmage Tarryn Fae. They oversee and maintain order within the walls of Kri Sona from their fortress at the top of the city.

---The outpost of Borodino is the closest encampment to the kingdom of Brutania. It stands as a training grounds for all of Kri Sona's standing military and doubles as a prison for all the outlaws. It is here that one would find the dregs of Ikri Sona, as well as the diminished army that claims to prevent disorder from breaking out.

---The Stonevale Mountains are lowest peaks on the continent of Drath. Nevertheless, they eclipse the majority of the horizon from those denizens of Kri Sona living on the rolling, forested plains. The mountains themselves are the basis of many rumors and wild stories that circulate through the nation. Most of the rumors have no factual backing, but the majority of people living in Kri Sona are nevertheless terrified of the black, jagged peaks that surround them on three

--The Sallazana Desert is a barren wasteland to most, but to some of Drath?s lesser races it is a home sweet home. Many travelers would be well-advised to avoid this place due to the high temperatures and lack of available water. Furthermore, this is also the place where the mighty Sand Trolls have managed to eek out an existence around the only oasis in this deathtrap. They don?t take too kindly to strangers, so be prepared for the worst if you want to traverse this sandy graveyard.

Kallak - the eldest nation on Drath, Kallak has existed for eons as the home of the Dragoons and dragons. The dragoons live in an amalgamation of settlements and cities across the south and western portion of Drath. High above them, their ancestors reside, constantly safeguarding, along with other denizens of the continent, the descendents they expelled with extreme prejudice so long ago. Like their human neighbors to the north, the Dragoons practice magic, but in a much more shamanistic sense. Practices such as necromancy are banned in Kallak. When it comes to the other nations, Kallak is allied with their dwarven neighbors, and

---Referred to as the 'chief settlement' of the Dragoon people, Arconia exists at the base of the Nazrath Mountains, and as such. Their current chieftain is Rinallo Kallak (for whom the entire nation is named), who is considered to be the most powerful dragoon alive. Rinallo lives in a massive fortress erected on the mountainside.

--The Toggo Forest is the home of the Forest Trolls and the legendary Jyuken. Not much information exists of this place due to the secretive nature of the forest, and the deadliness of its inhabitants. Only the strongest and most brave of adventurers would dare wish the take a hike through this lush, green nightmare.

Brutania - the smallest of the three nations inhabiting Drath, Brutania is limited to its capitol - Stroth'dar, and a few settlements on the neighboring fields. The nation is located to the east of Kallak and the southwest of Kri Sona. The dwarves as a race have always existed within their mountain citadel, and as a result, they are the most brutish of the three key races. There are no magical practitioners within Brutania, with the exceptional of the clerics. Ever since their allies the Elves were obliterated in the War of Magic centuries ago, the dwarves share a kind of blood feud with their human neighbors. Because of this, most of the dwarves have withdrawn to the safety of their subterranean fortress.

---The city of Stroth'dar is the age-old center of the dwarven race. It is hear, within the peaks and valleys of the Stroth'dar Mountains that they live, completely separated from the outside world. The only reason the city itself still exists is due to the unrivaled craftsmanship of the dwarven people. Within the city, Tornall Grushaw, the leader of the dwarven people, lives. There is also a church founded and operated by the clerics--the only magic-users in the entire race.

---Located high above Stroh?dar, Mount Daegammon is considered to be a means of traversing from Brutania to the Underworld, although none have survived the trek through the twisting, maze-like labyrinth of tunnels that lies beneath it. Nevertheless, at the snowy summit, a clan of dwarven clerics has built a monastery where they worship the mountain and the secrets it contains.

---The fortress city of Dagoth stands as a testament of dwarven versatility. Despite numerous sieges by humans, the fort still stands. Despite their victorious, tensions are always running high at the fort as more and more soldiers always need training. Nevertheless, many claim it's a relatively safe place to live.

The Underworld - when someone dies, their soul leaves their mortal body and they are banished to the Underworld. It is here where all the deceased are given the chance to prove their worth and scale the mountain that leads up to Purgatory (Mount Purgatory). Along the way they are forced to atone for any and all sins they perpetrated in life, leading for most of the more diabolical spirits to fall from the hill and into eternal damnation. Those who succeed are granted a second chance at life and those who fail...well they must prove their worth to Hades if they ever want to escape their living hell. Otherwise they are damned to an eternity in this twisted, bleak abyss.

Non-playable Characters (NPCs)

Quote:The information below was created by Captain Silver, who was unable to post it himself due to constraints in real life

Tarryn Fae ? Tarryn is the leader of Kri Sona nation and is a very powerful Arch mage, specializing in the use of spear at the age of 22. Her father used to be the leader of her people, until he was assassinated by Roshec Khan, where upon Tarryn took the throne. She cares deeply about her people and does anything to keep from going to war with the other nations. Some have said that she also trains certain individuals in the art of arcane magic, but that has not been proven yet. Tarryn is strikingly beautiful and because of this, has been asked by many men for her hand in marriage. However, she has turned down each and every one of them, for none of them have been able to best her in magic. If a man were to beat her in a contest of magic, she would be inclined to marry, as to her promise made to her father on his death bed.

Rinallo Kallak ? The Supreme Overlord of the nation of Kallak at the age of 24. The nation consists of Dragon?s and Dragoon?s, human?s who bond with dragons and become a half breed. Rinallo?s family has ruled since the creation of the nation, hence its name equals his last. He, however, despised his past family and killed them with his own Claymore, making him ruler. His true intent is unknown, yet some have said that he wishes to take the nation of Kri Sona and make the Queen his bride. No one matches Rinallo?s speed in battle, nor his abilities, which include breathing fire and flight, thanks to his black wings. Rinallo, despite his brutal appearance, has a soft spot for Dwarves, which created a long lasting treaty with the nation of Brutania. If you wish to become a Dragoon and you are a human, seek Rinallo Kallak out in his fortress on the highest mountain in Kallak. He will teach you how to bond with a dragon.

Tornall Grushaw ? A good natured dwarf and the king of Brutania at the age of 43. He is on the taller side as his people go, being 4?5?. Tornall?s rule is just and caring, for he loves his people to the point where he almost gave his life just to keep his nation safe. His huge and heavy hammer is always strapped to his back which makes some wonder, ?How in the Underworld is his back not broken?? As of now, Tornall Grushaw?s nation is at peace with Kallak and has nothing to do with Kri Sona. The dwarvan leader has a certain distaste toward the Kri Sonnaian Queen and has claimed multiple time that he knows for a fact that Tarryn Fae is a harlot. Tornall?s wife, Fee, is the head commander of the Brutanian Army. Tornall has three children that are in line for the throne, Tenshale(male), FinTine(female), and Trocklam(male), in order of age, the oldest being Tenshale at age 23. Tornall, if ever he went to war, would do well, for his people, mainly himself, have incredible strength and endurance. Recently, Tornall Grushaw has found a way to tame the rock trolls of his nation and now uses them as power in the military as well as work hands.

Roshec Khan ? A well known bounty hunter/assassin that slays for Hades, but will make a contract with anyone. He is most known for the assassination of Tarryn Fae?s father and is the soul reason why she is queen of Kri Sona. Roshec is a human with exceptional sight and specializes in using the bow and arrow. To hire Roshec?s services, find anyone wearing a white cloak with a black wolf on his back. It is the sign of Roshec Khan and his followers span the globe. Once you find a follower, ask them, ?Khan needs a job?? and he will find you in one IC day, 12 OOC hours. It has also been said that he can teach you Keen Sight, if you have the guts to spend time with an assassin.

Jyuken ? The legendary Sasquatch Kallakian folk tales. He inhabits the Toggo forest and is supposedly the only being to be just as good at magic as Tarryn Fae, the Queen. If you were to train with Jyuken, you might have a chance at defeating the Queen in a magical dual. However, the Sasquatch is quite difficult to find and won?t train for just anyone, you have to prove that you?re capable of surviving in the harsh wilderness of Kallak.

Hades - Ruler of the Underworld and bringer of death. He is the man you see when you get your head cleaved off, poisoned, punctured multiple times with a sword, fall from a cliff, ect, ect. He has a tendency to be picky when keeping the dead for his army or as low life?s, which are the targets of goblins, demons, and other such creatures that live in the Underworld. Not much else is known about Hades, for no one has risen up to tell anyone else about Hades.

Weapons

Regite Claymore (+5 Attack) | Cost: 900 gold
Forged from the mystical ore, Regite, the properties in the Regite, makes the sword as light as air. The sword is quite easy to maneuver, making it easier to strike at opponents. However, the Regite Claymore isn?t all that sturdy and can chip easily.

Zanbatou (+12 Attack, -12 Speed) | Cost: 4,000 gold
A wide blade made not for slashing or swinging, but for crushing. The wielder of a Zanbatou has the intent of crushing and destroying their opponent, not slicing and dicing. Usually weighing above 500 pounds, the Zanbatou is only recommended for those who are very strong and do not rely on speed too much when fighting.

Zi'kron Zanbatou (+20 Attack, -10 Speed) | Cost: 15,000 gold
Forged with the strongest metals around. rumored to have been embedded entirely in crystal-clear diamonds, this blade is one blade you would not want to end up on the wrong end of.

Sai'kon Zanbatou (+45 Attack, -20 Speed) | Cost: 75,000 gold
Made by forging both the Zi'kron Zanbatou and the Standard Zanbatou together, then finishing it with both a Binding Charm (soul binding the weapon to them) and a Durability Charm (making the material nigh indestructible). It is unique, and the price varies, but the rough estimate for its price would be 20k, extremely cheap because the grade of the metal is lower, though it is slightly lighter than the others.

Dagger (+3 strength, +5 speed) | Cost: 50 gold
Standard dagger. Does little damage, but is good for those who cannot afford anything better. Also great for rogues.

Weighted Saber (+5 strength) | Cost: 1000 gold
This is a rather basic, slashing weapon that has been perfectly weighted to make wielding it a lot simpler.

Bastard Sword (+20 strength) | Cost: 5000 gold
A rather unwieldy, yet powerful sword that nevertheless will be able to fulfill your quota of heads rather quickly.

Hammer of Thor (+95 strength, -45 speed, -25 constitution) | Cost: 15, 000 gold
A powerful, legendary item named after the thunder god of ancient lore. This hammer has the innate ability to discharge electricity whenever it comes in contact with its targets.

Armor

Gauntlets of Might (+5 Strength) | Cost: 3,200 Gold
Forged from the steels of the great mines of Kri Sona, the Gauntlets of Might are enhanced with many enchantments, cast by some of the finest mages of all of Kri Sona. The spells make the steel of the gauntlets more durable and they make the arm muscles more defined, giving the user an added bonus in strength.

Dragoon Wing Scale Boots (Levitation) | Cost: 10,000 gold
Forged from the shed wing scales of the Dragoons, the dwarves used these scales to make fine boots, but once they used them, they realized they?d been hovering several feet from the air! The boots have magical properties that allow the user to levitate several feet in the air. Dragoons do not use these boots since they already have the ability to levitate.

Dragon Scale Armor (+25 strength, +25 constitution, +5 speed) | Cost: 9500 gold
Forged from the very dragons they came from, the dragoon used what little scales they had left and used them to forge a rare product, Dragon Scale Armor. The armor still has some of the essence of the very dragon that shed it, empowering the owner of such majestic armor.
But the armor is quite a heavy piece of equipment and it is difficult to move with it on.

Buckler (+5 defense) | Cost: 15,000 gold
This shield has been fashioned to fit onto a warrior?s wrist, allowing them to wield two-handed weapons despite having a shield, albeit it far harder to successfully block.

Enchanted Helm (+5 defense, Night Vision) | Cost: 4,000 gold
A helmet bestowed with a series of enchantments by the wizards in Kri Sona. This helmet grants its wearer a form of night vision that allows them to see as far during the night as they can during the day.

Miscellaneous Items

Maltu Fruit (+15 Speed) | Cost: 1,500 gold
Freshly picked from one of the legendary Maltu trees grown on the farms of Kallak, the fruit that these trees grow has magical properties when ripe. If consumed, it heightens your natural speed, making you lighter on your feet. The effects of the fruit however only last for only 5 IC hours.
