[O] Seventeen's Battalion/Koola's Squad
#1
PCs: A-17, Kid Buu, Kollifum

The troops marched on behind the Commander away from Sanguine Castle, leaving it a speck in the distance. They weren't exactly in neat, orderly rows, but everyone was at the same pace and no one was left behind.

Seventeen took a look at his map and nodded to himself. They headed over plain green grass and up a hill. After the hill, it was all flat plains with the occasional patch of forest. Eventually, snipers could see an Outcast base nearby.

And so they kept marching...

?Everyone move out!? Seventeen commanded, turning around to face the group of soldiers he had allocated for himself. ?We are the last ones to exit Sanguine Castle so is everyone present and accounted for? I don?t want to see any stragglers when we depart for our destination, savvy?? The instructed received a chaotic acknowledgment from the few hundred soldiers that composed the android?s traveling party. ?Let?s move!? He roared, hoisting the Power Sword into the air like a cavalry saber as he turned his attention to the castle gates.

The march from Sanguine Castle to the terminus of the opening day?s trek was a rather tedious and disorganized stampede across varied terrain. Along the way, Seventeen was required to stop several times in order to calm down his men and actually get them to march in some type of coherent structure. To some the insanity may have been unbearable, the cybernetic warrior had dealt with far worse then some energetic, over excited soldiers.

Despite the hectic organization of his battalion, the machine-hybrid was nevertheless able to traverse the needed terrain in a timely fashion. Once he verified his location on the map he had brought with him, Seventeen ordered his men up a nearby hill. When he was perched at the grassy knoll?s apex, the android?s long-range division was able to spot a few encampments on the horizon that belong to some of the smaller squads that Seventeen had sent out initially.

?We?re going to set up camp near the four other squads dispatched to this location,? the cyborg boomed, turning around to face his soldiers. Feel free to mingle if you have any friends that wound up in the other squads, but just know that we will not dally in this location any longer then we have to, because we still have to stick to the schedule. Acknowledged?? Once he was satisfied with the level of understanding conveyed in the tone of his troops, Seventeen waved the Power Sword ahead of him.

As his battalion descended the hill, the cyborg stayed behind to insure that no one would be left behind, and that any stragglers from the castle would not lose their way. Upon reassuring himself that all his troops were present, Seventeen sheathed the Power Sword and jogged back to his group. By the time the onyx-haired commander made it to the front of the ?line?, the battalion had already reached a suitable location for their camp.

Fishing around the pocket of his coat, Seventeen produced the spotting scope left for him in the desk back at the bunker. Adjusting the aged device to the optimal focus and zooming settings, the android peered through the portable telescope and identified that his men had indeed stumbled upon a rather opportune location.

Four other camps, all of them rather minute compared to the surplus of soldiers that marched beneath the machine-hybrid?s banner, were easily detectable. The smaller squads were merely a few thousand feet away?walking distance if anyone in Seventeen?s battalion knew someone. The period for fleeting rendezvous would have to come later, because for the moment, the android knew it was imperative to erect camp.

He needed to get the tents up so his boys and girls had a place to park it when they got tired, because he did not want to run the risk of crabby or fatigued soldiers. Seventeen understood that sleep, supplies, and morale would be three things we would have to watch astutely. If the troops could not be kept on their toes and prepared for the tribulations ahead, then all of the android?s planning and contemplations would be all for naught.

?We?ve really got to stop meeting like this,? the soothing, female voice entered the cyborg?s right ear and immediately made him smile faintly. Just as Paige?s hands were snacking around his waist, Seventeen pivoted and grinned at his girlfriend.

?We?ve really got to stop meeting like this,? the cybernetic warrior uttered, getting his words out right before the woman leaned in and kissed him. After a moment or two, Paige pulled away and returned the smile?her strange, pure white teeth providing an interesting contrast to her emerald flesh. The former whitelighter reached behind her back and produced a sleek, ebony rifle.

?M40A3,? Paige stated, running her fingers over the telescopic sight on the sniper rifle and taking a moment to show that there was a round chambered in the weapon. ?Pretty sexy gun if I?ve seen one, and I?ve been alive for the better part of fifty years,? the former guardian angel commented added, looking up to notice the slight shock on the look of her cybernetic significant other.

?I didn?t know you were that old,? the machine-hybrid snickered, the remark earning him a playful punch from the green-skinned sniper. ?I?m going to go help the men set up the camp and see if I can?t attempt to at least learn some of their names while we are camped at this location. I trust you can find work for yourself on your own?? Seventeen spoke with in a manner that seemed to aim at commanding, but the woman knew better. Paige returned the rifle to holster strapped to her camouflaged jacket and nodded her head.

?Go do some darn work,? she uttered, her tone an attempted mockery of the pseudo-authoritative tone the android had taken. ?10-4, Commander!? She yelled playfully, saluting Seventeen once for good measure and then marching off in the most ridiculous, flamboyant manner she could possibly imagine.

?Woman,? the android said sarcastically, a big grin upon his pallid features. Without so much as another remark, the cybernetic warrior set off to go make himself useful to his battalion.

?Hoist the mizzenmast!? Seventeen chuckled, throwing all of his weight against the central pillar for one of the tents. Once the wooden column was in place, the onyx-haired commander wiped away the beads of sweat that had accumulated upon his forehead. With his tent fully erected, the android came to the realization that the workload for the day had been completed. Upon existed his tent, he noticed that several of his troops had already entered one of the communal tents in an effort to get a few hours of sleep in before the next move.

About a quarter of the soldiers had traveled to one of the other camps in the surrounding region. Satisfied with what he had accomplished thus far, Seventeen walked back into his tent and took a seat on the grass. The android let out a sigh and began to ponder how long the tranquility would last before his men were subjected to the bloodshed. After all, it would be ludicrous for the cybernetic warrior to believe that everyday would just entail some marching, setting up tents, and then sleeping.

Whether war came in a few days or a few weeks was not as important, Seventeen merely hoped that his soldiers would be ready. His thoughts also wandered to Super Buu and what that golem could be up to on his front, and what about Mr. Cell Junior? The cyborg let out another sigh as he pushed off his laurels and leaned over the map table. A number of scrawls, shapes, and lines adorned the aged document in a testament to the android?s erratic thought process.

?Commander?? The timid voice inquired. Glancing over at the entryway to his tent, the android was taken aback when he noticed a beautiful young woman leaning into his temporary abode. Her face was contorted in an expression that conveyed a mixture of sadness and fright. ?There?s a problem outside?? she added, trailing off as she vanished back into the world outside the room.

Biting his lip, Seventeen rushed out the door?his overabundant determination proudly displayed upon his countenance. Batting aside the flap that filled the position of door for the crude tent, the android emerged outside and immediately noticed the ?problem? that the woman had informed him of a few moments ago.

A tussle had broken out between two members of the android?s battalion?a saiya-jin and a changeling. The two warriors were making quite a ruckus as they swung and slashed at the other?s throat. A small crowd had gathered around the scene to watch as the age-old enemies tried to murder one another and cheer for who they supported. Producing the silver flask from his coat pocket, Seventeen took a swig of the liquid inside and gritted his teeth in aggravation.

?Stop it!? He screamed, rushing forward and forcefully putting himself between the saiya-jin and changeling rivals. The android?s protestations initiated a hiatus in the fighting that last for about three seconds, and then the two fighters were at it one again?completely ignoring the fact that Seventeen was still standing between them. ?I said stop fucking fighting!? The cyborg bellowed, a whirlwind of blue energy bursting forth from the ground and consuming him like an azure cyclone.

The sudden ascension triggered the majority of the surrounding audience to gasp and retreat a few steps. Reaching his hands out in opposing directions, Seventeen grabbed the two warring soldiers by their throats and hoisted them off the ground. Immediately they began to kick their feet and gasp in protest to the manhandling, but the machine-hybrid had a point that he had to stress. This point would involve two examples, the two saiya-jin and changeling were the perfect exhibits for the case the onyx-haired warrior was about to present.

?This message is not limited to the two warriors to my left and right,? Seventeen declared, his tone lacking his characteristic lightheartedness. In fact, the android tone was downright threatening. ?But I do not want to see any type of civil war break out in within the ranks of my army. I understand that some of your may not agree with or even like your fellow soldiers, but they are, whether you like it or not, your brethren. We may be mismatched, weird, and crazy in some cases, but we are family for the duration of his game. I am not weakling, and I will not tolerate conflict like this ever again. Do you two understand??

?Yes?? the saiya-jin squeaked, his face cherry red as he gasped for precious air. Releasing the monkey-hybrid to the ground, Seventeen turned his eyes toward the changeling and arched and eyebrow.

?No problem,? the white-skinned transformer gasped. With his usual, chipper smile returning to his pale visage, the android released the alien and turned to face the crowd that had gathered.

?I want you to spread this message to anyone and everyone in this camp. We are united against a common foe, and internal strife and bloodshed will not be tolerated by any means. If you want to kill one another because of racial or personal vendettas then do it on your own time, because I want to win this. Victory will be impossible if all we do is stab at each other?s backs and slash at one another?s throats. Do all of you understand this order or am I speaking in riddles?? A short pause permeated the atmosphere as the android took a moment to look at all the troops that had gathered. ?Well?? he repeated.

?Ten-four, Commander!? The group shouted, some of them saluting as others opted to merely bow their heads in shame. As the crowd began to disperse, the android glanced at the two warriors still on the ground. Both of them seemed equally ashamed of their actions.

?I apologize for having to manhandle you like that, and I hope you understand the reason behind all of it. If either of you would like to talk to me about what transpired here please feel free to pay me a visit at my tent. Stay frosty, soldiers,? Seventeen said, smiling at the two fighters and flashing them a ?thumbs up? before returning to his tent.
