Chubbs will be shifting to an experience point system. Players will earn experience points based on their posting. A grading system will be put into effect that allows the staff to grade posts based on both quality and quantity. These experience points will be spent on stats, abilities (what are now called techniques), powerups (no longer will you need staff approval), weapons, and special moves.

I was waiting for something like this to come up. It'll keep people from simply dumping all their points into Det and roleplaying once every two weeks to become one of the strongest guys out there. The only problem I see is the amount of work it'll bring on the Staff.
Under this system, you're bound to see alot more frequent posting, as people will want to get those experience points to get one up on someone else. Right now, we're lucky to see more than two staff online at the same time. Think you guys can keep up, or will we see a boost in the Staff roster?

The grading process was conceived to be fairly automatic. While it will, to some degree or another, take some effort on the part of the staff, grading a thread shouldn't take more than a couple minutes.
There's no hiding the fact that there has been a lull in staff activity for a bit now and, if we need more staff members, we'll get them. It'll take some feeling out to see how many people we need and when. It'll also depend on when members ask for gradings.

I don't know if I'm exactly for the spending experience points on abilities and powerup thing. I mean, whats to stop someone who has been RPing for a few years from hording all of their points and shoving them into super sayain 2 or something? Also, what about a situation where the ability really doesn't line up with the RP at all. . .Let's say that I planned on putting my experience into metal binding. It's understandable, right? I mean metal binding is a kick ass technique. But where did that experience come from? As I understand, it could have come from anywhere and my character magically now knows a high level ability. I personally liked the training for specific things / earning staff approval thing.

My two cents.

So you think entering a saga and just getting whatever you get makes more sense?
If you want to RP training for Metal Binding, then go RP training for Metal Binding. You're given the freedom to RP training for any ability you want at any time. Yeah, sure, some people may ignore that and just suddenly gain an ability, but that's hardly different from the way it is now.
Your SSJ2 comment is addressed in a fewways. First, there is no SSJ2, and there won't be one for a while. The way powerups are structured right now, people may not even want to get Super Saiyan: all races have multiple powerups at their disposal. And, if you're saving up all that time for SSJ2, that means you're not spending the points on any of your stats. The base for your SSJ2 would be so low, that you could very well be below people with SSJ1. Its a self-balancing system.
Earning staff approval will still have a place on Chubbs in the form of Sensei. By training with a Sensei, a player can learn an ability at a significantly reduced cost, but they have to meet the approval of the Sensei (staff) before they get the discount.

No worries. If you have concerns or comments, this is the place for them.

Did this have anything to do with my suggestion I sent Reijin? If so, w00t. If not, I was too late.
Will there be any kind of class system? (idk if I should make new threads here, so sorry if this is unrelated)

You guys are SCREWED. *revs up postwhore engine again*
Ok, so, yeah. How is this system going to be monitored from abuse? If people post for exp and stuff, what is to stop someone from posting complete spam just to gain points?
Fuck you, Photobucket.

Generally I like it. We use much the same approach at Zensou. In regards to Vi's question, is it just a matter of only counting the posts in certain boards like it is done now? That seems logical though I'm certain you guys will cap off the post whore approach in some other way as well. What way would that be?

I don't want to go into total detail, because that would be redundant this early, but I can assure you that we've done all the nessecary preperations in terms of stopping people from just getting points for useless posts

Rest assured that abuse will not be a problem. It's our biggest concern in this system and has been addressed several times.
Also, it should be noted that abuse will result in a permaban.

Is there going to be any benefit for people who can't be as active, or is it going to be purely based on rewards now? Something like the current training system but on a smaller scale, or a 'rest' (ala WoW) system.

Why would there be benefits for being less active?
EXP will be directly based on the quality and quantity of your roleplaying.

Yeah, I love this idea. Good concept guys. You're really doing an awesome job with this. Best of luck with the rest of the project. I'm sure you guys still have tons to do.

So things don't get too 'hardcore'. Remember when I suggested more proactive rewards a while back, and people complained that people without as much time to RP would get left behind? That, pretty much. Something like a rest system, or some weekly points for simply roleplaying.
On one hand, if things get too 'casual' then there's no incentive to roleplay (kind of like Chubbs as it is now, with lots of people wanting rewards to actually matter for something =P). If you take it too far, however, then you cut out the people that can't RP every day. It's a balance.

There are no plans for any weekly xp or any kind of rest system.

Will quests follow this (or a similar) reward system?
