The GPS allows the user to see which squares have people on them. The list is something like

A-2
A-2
B-1
B-3

It shows how many people are on what square.

It's been used in the game for the last two years. Is it too powerful? Should it be trashed? Should it stay?

It should be removed, with Danger Zones, GPS is unneeded since it'll ultimately force people into one another.

Bull. I say keep it in. I was in the group that had the GPS the last time it was in. Very useful device. It's one of those turn it around luck type items like the teddy bear bomb. Plus it can be stolen.

I hate the GPS. A lot.

A huge part of DA's fun is the chaotic unpredictability. The GPS removes a great deal of that.

EDIT (for those who didn't want to make the connection themselves): Ergo, the GPS removes a great deal of the fun.

Some people like their breakfast on the table, Rad. (Not me, though.)

That being said, I'd vote to make a little change to it. Like, say, the GPS malfunctions a bit, and misportrays four squares. Whether that mean it shows four squares that have people on them as being empty, four squares that show people on them when there is none, or some combination thereof.

Reijin suggested that last year. I'm not totally crazy about the idea. If it could be wrong, it kind of defeats the purpose.

What if the GPS showed just the general area people were in, like a four block square sort of thing. . .or if it didn't say how many people were in the location, just that they were there. . .You could limit the number of times the GPS could be used. . .you could make it extremely fragile. . .you could limit the radius it can track within. . .you could make it a sort of bug device where you see someone then can follow them with the GPS rather than see everyone. . .IMO you could limit the weapon in various ways and still have it be useful.

I like my breakfast in my tummy. And, even then, only if its delicious waffles.

A lot of people seem to be in favor of the GPS (aka, wrong) so I was wondering what the chances were of making changes to it. I think it would be pretty cool if people knew when the GPS was used. Like, their collars would ping or something, and Burter could post the time at which he received the PM asking for the GPS to be used.

I say keep it. The weapon isnt that all powerful. Didnt 18 have it last year? And she ran into all kinds of trouble. No offense at all 18. It could be really helpful if your in a group setting and thats how i would use it.

Personally, I don't care for the GPS.

I'm all for the occasional lucky advantage, but I think that the GPS is just too... well... not right for DA. I don't know what I'm trying to say, but the GPS isn't really a weapon, and unless you smack someone over the head with it, it isn't going to be a weapon. I say if you want a GPS have a malfunctioning GPS, one that's used to like, electrocute people or smack them over the head. But technically, the only supplies we're supposed to get (if I remember right) are food and weapons. The GPS isn't really a 'weapon' -- it's a tool, so by giving it out it seems like you're breaking your own rule a bit.

Eighteen started with it, and I asked if she would feed me the results and I would go pick people off. Unfortunately, the very first square that was closest to me ended up being her and I killed her on accident.

True, the GPS does remove a lot of the chaotic element, but it creates a whole shit ton of man-made conflict. The very first year, it changed hands quite a bit, and some groups used it to push people into fighting each other.

That logic is completely flawed. By that logic, I shouldn't be giving spoons, magazines, pot lids and condoms as weapons too, but I damn sure do

But for those, the really only use of those that could help in DA is to be a weapon. A GPS has further capabilities that make it a "tool."

I don't see why this means it can't be included, though. You're making it sound like it's a class all to itself, so it should not be included? Why should I include a spoon, but not a GPS? Because a GPS is useful? Does that mean I shouldn't include a gun, because it also has it's uses?

I can get saying a GPS is too powerful, but you're making it sound like it shouldn't be included simply because it is not a typical weapon, but that's what 50% of DA 'weapons are: not really weapons at all.

I'm saying the main focus is not something that could directly harm someone else. Sure, it could indirectly harm someone else, but things like a gun or a spoon -- their main focus (ingame, at least) is to directly harm someone else. I'm not saying it shouldn't be included because it's not a typical weapon. I'm saying it shouldn't be included be it's not a weapon at all. I would be fine with it if you just disabled the tracking.

By your logic, should the medical kit also be removed?

It also depends on what your definition of "weapon" is. It could be a device used to injure or kill, or it could mean something used to gain the advantage in a situation.

Regardless, I say keep it.
