Poison, Yay or Nay?

Poison allows you to kill someone automatically, assuming you are alligned with them. Should it stay?

Of course, it adds a lot of character turmoil and depth. . .love it.

Yes, it'll help cause possible scheming in the large groups.

Perhaps. It's basically an invisible god mod on someone you trust. It's not something my character would use, but I think it could lead to some interesting situations.

Eh, its been in the game for how long now? Maybe something new... I mean, keep the same properties and stuff, but definitely something new. Like a timebomb. Or a little tiny box that has some kind of virus, like ebola or something like that. A virus doesn't sound like a bad idea, actually. Something that will eat you from the outside in, leaving a rather bare corpse left. <.<

Okay, regardless of whether or not it changes from Poison to something else, I'm mainly asking if the ability itself is too powerful.

While, yes, it does present a unique chance to kill someone without a fight, the downside is you have to allign with the person first, in other words gain their trust

I think it should go. We don't want to see instant deaths without conflict. Boooring.

I've always thought Poison was one of the most interesting weapons in DA.

It's definitely the most strategic.

Isn't DA about not being fair to others?

DA is about what the player is about. Some players come in willing to lie, cheat and steal to win. Some players come in with the intention of simply writing so good they win all of their fights. For example, Reijin and Bardock were people who used strategy over writing (that's not to say either of them lacked in the writing department). On the flip side, Raditzu clearly is in it for the writing rather then the gameplay.

Rad has always said if he got the GPS, he would break it so no one can use it. That's an example of someone who would play straight-up.

A weapon like this forces a player to lie. If someone wants to this weapon, they have to turn on somebody.

So, the question remains, is something like this too powerful? From what I've gathered, people seem to prefer it stay in the game.

Damn skippy I would. I put my head down and charge straight ahead.

Anyway, if people did say it was too powerful, what would be an alternate, weaker poison?

And what about multiple poisons? One could, say, disable transformations for a set period of time, another could disorient a person to the point of being unable to use weapons, and then you could have the good old fashioned death juice. Of course, you shouldn't let the player know which poison they have until they actually use it.

Rad if we were to chain link and you got the GPS, would you be so kind as to just hand it over to Kirano? He'd even beg if he had to, totally kiss your ass.

The poison was probably the most memorable thing about DA for me last year. Aligning myself with Gokua and assuring him for nearly two days I wouldn't back stab him only to use the poison first chance I got was so incredibly stressful that when it finally was over I felt so satisfied(and quite ashamed of myself too).

...

It's sad how tempting the ass-kissing would make that.

I love the poison. I say keep it. But make sure it can only be used once.

I'd do it if not just for the awesome roleplay.

the poison adds great drama to the game, which creates interesting situations. but perhaps it is too powerful. having something that could create that kind of drama but not being as powerful, maybe a virus like violet said that would slowly eat someone away, killing them like three days later? idk. or leave them almost incapacitated.

Yeah, the poison was always a cool addition. I think it should stay. However, if it absolutely has to go, I suppose I'd be fine with a different variation.

I tend to think it should stay.... I mean..someon outshining you? Kill them! If you can put as much trust as I did into Tapion... then meh trust the dude... and hope he does a Tapion and fucks another guy over lol

Another interesting thing about poison is that its the only weapon in the game that means that your risk of instant and unavoidable death actually increases with the number of people you are grouping with.

Given how many large groups always run around, I wouldn't blame having TWO forms of poison in it, just to add extra caution and encourage smaller groups.
