One of THE best parts about encounters is wondering what kind of weapon they're gonna bust out. It'd be awesome if we don't even know what they are to begin with.

I was actually going to suggest not revealing what people get as weapons .... This is even better.

The only concern I have about this is with things like GPS, Binocs, Poison, etc. Are you going to give us any way of knowing who has things like that if they get into a fight?

Probably not unless it's relevant. Like, if someone used a GPS to get into a fight, I would probably mention it in passing.

That's how I always do it. Only people who read every detail get all of the clues.
