Honestly, it sucks really bad. Rickroll is better. Rick Roll was something I actually enjoyed for a while. This is just stupid. It would have been much more entertaining if it came out right after rickroll. Now it just seems like another failed attempt at parody.

This is a direct parody of Rickroll. A parody is meant to look bad and make fun of the original. Thus, it's a very successful parody

The only thing that I find funny in this version is probably the melody. Because, Rick Astley's vocals are much funnier than this guy's.


Also, parody is a burlesque imitation of a musical composition. Or at least that's the definition that most closely resembles this situation.

Now, I don't see how this parody treats Rick Roll with mock dignity. Why? Because Rick Roll, after the whole fiasco and spamming, can barely be considered ordinary material with any dignity whatsoever. This may be a parody to those who lived during the time when Rick Astley made the hit, but not to us. After all, we're the ones that made a serious song into a parody itself. And to make a parody of a parody defeats the purpose of a parody.

One can also parody a parody. This usually doesn't happen, as parodies are most often done by the more classically liberal-minded people, so chances are you'd be parodying something you believe in*.
