Possible WoW tech support project for me!
#1
he tech support center where I work is opening a new project. It can't be another Rogers Wireless project because we were told rogers doesn't know about it. It can't be another cell phone company because that's illegal and they recently closed the blizzard tech support center in Toronto and one in Nikarogwa. Also, the training will be complete just in time for the release of WotLK. So..we have some hope that it'll be blizzard tech support. As the company I work for already has 3 sites for Blizzard in the States.

I'm not sure if I hope for, or hope against this project, because I'm under the impression if I do work in game for Blizzard tech support I have to delete my own personal account which would mean I would lose my RoA connections as well as my other friends. I'm still not sure if this is true, though, as I'm to understand working for Blizzard entitles you to a free life time subscription.

Just in case anyone wonders, the Blizzard sites my company has already in the states are in Port Arthur, Texas as well as Hamilton and Moore Alabama.

Either way, I'm anxious to find out one way or the other.

As far as I know, Blizzard employees can play World of Warcraft. Mods on WoW forums sometimes talk about their in game experiences (of course, they could still be lying but I kind of doubt that Tongue). There is also a Friends and Family Alpha going on of Wrath of the Lich King, so I am assuming company employees can participate.

Anyway, I do not see why you would not be able to play the game as an employee. If anything, it is more likely you get discounts or even free copies of the games they make.

Blizzard employees get 3 permanent WoW accounts for them and their family. But I don't think you'd technically be a Blizzard employee.

Also, I didn't think they outsourced any of their tech support?

They out source tons. I know we have 3 sights, and I checked in detail in to one. It has 2 levels of phone tech support, and 3 tiers of game tech support at that one site, as well as billing assistance.

Do you know if they outsource to the Portland, Oregon area at all? It'd be good experience for my game programming career.
