That Barbarian demo looked like God of War without the combos.

Oh. My. God.

Oh my god.

This is the greatest thing ever.
Greg0rz (3:16:14 PM): if you cut Michael Moore, he would bleed cheese and bacon grease?
UltimoDemon (3:16:26 PM): I think that is very likely, yes.
Greg0rz (3:16:34 PM): *scribbles down*
Greg0rz (3:16:45 PM): do you mind if I quote you?
UltimoDemon (3:16:49 PM): Not at all.

Yeah, I'm not too excited about this either. Maybe if I played the first ones?

Have to agree with Nappa. This game took half of my life.

If you played the last ones, you'd understand.

Yeah I've never played Diablo, I just wanted to shit all over your excitement like Bojack, Raditzu and Waffuru did in my GOW 2 thread.

lol @ Sazuaa

But yea, this is pretty awesome news, despite the fact that I played and got bored playing the second one before any of my friends even knew what the fuck it was.

You youngin's might not remember it, but it was awesome. When it came out, it was the fastest selling video game of all time (Diablo II, that is). I played that game on and off for about five years. FIVE YEARS. That's how good it is.

I remembered playing Diablo in my garage just because we were tired of playing Diablo II. I don't know why the hell we were in the garage. Get excited about the game.

They announced there will be five in total, but even that is a lower number than DII. Unless you exclude expansions.

aw fudge, i didn't see this thread when i made mine D:

anyway, looks lame. the leap from d2 to d3 is going to be even smaller than what happened from d1 to d2. the original game was really fun for its time, but d2 just wasn't that compelling and if this holds true for d3 i'm going to be even less impressed. i'm starting to get the same feeling about starcraft 2; this isn't going to be a new game so much as a refurbished old game. if all they're going to do is release an imbalanced version of the previous installment then i'll take a pass, thanks.

i remember being more impressed with warcraft2 during its time than i was with warcraft3 when it was released. i mean, instead of making warcraft3 in 1998 they made starcraft: it was a sequel in spirit, but with a new story, setting, and core gameplay it was also a whole new game of its own. they built on the success of the previous game, not just the franchise, and expanded it. that was what made it great.

why are all of the awesome developers of my childhood so boring now? sqaresoft was the first to fall apart, then rare, now blizzard. new developers like bungee are getting into the industry with the factory-produce business model already as their guiding principle, and they're not even that good at it like capcom and nintendo are. ufc 2009 and fallout3 had better be super fucking duper or i'm going to stop playing games for ever.

You're being awful pessimistic, considering how little info there is about D3 at the moment.

I don't think it's that your childhood faves are boring, I think it's that your expectations are too high. They're not unreasonable, certainly, but it sounds like they're not very realistic given the current "attitude" of the industry.

That's probably how it will work. 5 originals, add in at least 1 with an expansion
