Because the whole thing is that the lens scouter is so small you must buy small parts that go into it, also you must buy the upgrades at the time of purchase or you can never have them installed.

Uub is right, I being the creator of the L.E.N.S., I explicitly designed the scouters to be super small in essance they are the size of a contact lens and employ Nano-Technology as the acronym states. Because of that the parts in a L.E.N.S. are about twice as expensive found in a normal scouter because they are that hard to make, and they cannot be removed or added after the L.E.N.S. has been bought.
