How do you make pictures brighter, without distorting the picture horribly?

Or the option below Len's flare, can't remember it's name, but that can help.

Other wise, you can do a process of copying the layer, re-pasting it, then setting a screen mode to the new image. Repeat till you get it as bright as you want. This is tiresome, and rather annoying thou.

Or under adjustments mess with the brightness/contrast options

right click on your layer in the layer settings panel > duplicate layer > okay

layer settings > screen

repeat until desired lightness is acquired

Thanks guys for the help...if your wondering what for, I take pictures for the newspaper...one of them looked really dark, so...yeah.
