What would you guys see as the most 'boring' IC part of this RPG right now?

I've been looking for a particular focus to work with in order to improve or expand upon. Problem is, I can't really decide what to do. I came up with a few ideas and - not to brag - I thought they were really cool. But they didn't work. ^_^

Basically, I'd like each of you guys to point out something about the RPG, be it the shop list, a certain planet, 'tech trees', etc that you think are either boring or just not working right.

You are welcome to submit your own solutions or ideas, but be warned that if I decide to run with one of your suggestions, it's almost guaranteed that I will either modify or expand upon it.

Also, don't feel bad if something gets shot down. So long as you tried, I'll be extremely happy with everyone's effort. So, without further ado, have at it!

EDIT: I don't want to see anything having to do with OOC matters. Those are being handled accordingly.

I think the technique list needs to be updated, like what kind of techs we can learn, how long it takes, etc. I read the one on the main page, and i think it needs to be clarified. Try using tables, one side the move, then a description, then how long it takes to learn it.

And speaking of that, why not have required RP posts for some moves?

That won't happen. This was an inherent problem with Spiritken and Kaioken, where people would just RP to get the tech. It is possible to RP specifically to get a technique, but you'll only receive it when/if the staff feels you've earned it.

There aren't any set requirements for techs. That would make them too easy to obtain.

As for the tech list... well... I honestly don't see anything wrong with it. It's missing the new techs, but those'll be added, I think. In any case, I can't touch the main page(s).

What I'm saying is, just clear it up a little bit, like at the top of a section, just list the name, in the middle, below that, the description and how to obtain it and the one below that, the requirements, probably do it in a tables style, with each table alternating colors. It'd be a bit easier to read for new players.

Well, from a personal standpoint, the old layout was much easier to read through the info pages on than the current one.

Aw...since I'm here anyways, can we make individual char pages? I'm wanting to put mine on my own website, and I am more than happy to share with others, if they want to put theirs there too to save on bandwith here, since i got *unlimited* (strumms profusehost...listening to fugees don't help...)

Example would be like a full char picture (bigger than what is allowable on the forum and can't fit in our sigs), a tech section that lists all their techs (as long as it is cleared with staff first), notable points in their char's life, notable RP's, etc. I can probably create a draft and have you a link later, if you want.

Also, can link to these through our profiles or our sigs.

Your last suggestion is basically what the Technique Vault has turned into. Check out some of the tech vaults for, say, Reijin, 18, Myself, and I'm sure there are many others.

It went from being just a place for best moves to details about techniques, character relations and bios, history, and so on and so forth. We might be better off renaming it the "Character Vault," since that's what its become.

I'd be all for just calling the Tech Vault 'Character Pages', it really wouldn't change anything since there's no limit on what we can put in there at the moment. My tech vault is updated somewhat frequently as a result 8)

The only thing that really jumps to mind at the moment is that the forums should have their descriptions fixed up a little. It doesn't bode well that on a writing website you see "city's", "astriod" and "splitted" Tongue Nitpicky, but it would probably only take a few minutes to rectify. Pretty much every other IC idea I have has been voiced on the QSU board. I still think my Fusion idea would rock, but some people like it a little simpler. Wink

Edit: A few random ideas I just came up with.

1: Weakling tournaments - for people with power levels below 1.2 million or somesuch, to get newbies into the mix.

2: Random events on planets. This would work like, a mod or admin would make a topic with a random event, and the first person to roleplay there would get to interact and possibly earn a nice reward. There would be no warning, just first come first serve.

Re-edit: Crap, I totally missed the point, sorry.

Tried to edit this in, but was too late. Some fixes would be the quest page. It often seems outdated, and some descriptions are broken, with 'Description:' placed twice or in the wrong place, etc. There needs to be a structure for all quests to follow, with Base Ki or Max Ki always stated to confirm what the quest is talking about.

I love the individual dragonball effects, but I think the wishes need to be buffed, or re-looked at. They just seem really weak at the moment.

Some descriptions on the front page are still somewhat ambiguous. For example, I thought the Spiritken description meant that you had to be active on Earth for 2 weeks before training for the technique, but when it came to learn it I found you had to be roleplaying OOC for 2 weeks, which royally screwed up my plans. And for Body Split, I still don't know whether "Placo might learn warriors the Body Split technique if they have been on Namek for four weeks training" means being on the planet for 4 weeks beforehand or actually training for 4 weeks.

I personally think more events should take place in the Outer Worlds forum as they are much less active then Earth, Namek or Vegeta. I figure beacuse these planets arent of much interest either IC or OOC.

To build on Chun's idea a little, I think there need to be some more quests for the Outer World's forum (by this I mean the main forum that contains Arlia, Mercy, and Forst, since I assumed Chun was talking about all four of the forums in his post). I love the idea of the 'Battle In Space' and 'Lost Ship' quests, and both make me wish I had a personal ship. More space-related quests should be implemented.

This doesn't pertain to the point of this thread per se, but a lot of the pages on the main site appear to be painstakingly outdated. Yea, some of them aren't as important then others, but it'd be nifty to finally see someone of them updated (like the shop with the metals, the tech page with all the recent techs, and sarcasm aside, the 'About Us' page has to be the oldest thing I have ever seen).

Just so you guys know, all of the main pages are being worked on to being updated.

Also, 17, that would be cool to see, and I think it will happen, it's just that those two are the first quests for that forum, so it's taking a little while to get hype.

Just some things that I've been thinking on.

I would seriously like to see something start happening with the Dragonballs. I know that all Seven are in possession, but maybe a mini-saga that forces all of the holders into a death match or something, being that they all have abilities planted within them. The winner, get's all Seven and the wish, that way the people with the dragon radars may actually get a chance at using them. i for one would love the chance to search for them, it would really make for some good character development.

Or a second idea...

Make a limit on the db's. By that I mean. You must use the dragonballs abilities once every __ days. If you do not, you lose it and it is returned to ___ planet. And thus giving everyone the chance to find it. That'll make it a bit more fair for those that rp a lot and could get some great rp's off them vs. those that just rp here and there, rarely ever using the ball.(I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, so far everyone with the DBs have been doing just fine).

Love the ideas on Intergalatic Battles.

Totally agree with the more IC stuff for the Outer Planets, love the changes you guys have done to the afterlife, so maybe get some more for the OP.

I think that maybe the shop needs a few new, and probably expensive items, no idea what, but yeah. Just noticing that a few people are really running out of things to purchase, making zeni less and less of an issue. OR improve slightly upon the items that no one purchases, IE: Heart of Curage.

I've also suggested some changes to techniques, such as Shapechange and whatnot, but you guys are either working on it or have just shot it down, either way, you said to suggest anything.

I think with the Dragonballs, if the wishes were completely awesome, people would take the initiative and start trying to get all 7. Right now, it seems better just to try and hang on to them since the individual Dragonball effects are so good.

But Shapechange I'd definitely like to see more on. When I head on to shapechanging school I'd like to know what my limits are, as in turning in to cars and submarines or whether I'm just allowed to change into another humanoid. This could be where Piccolo's Shapechange 'levels' idea comes in.

You guys do realize that the dragonball wish has endless possibilities, right? It states "Run your suggestion by us" for a reason. I mean, we wished for a planet. Damn are we having a lot of work as a result, but still.

Just to let you know... You want the dragonballs? Be my guest. You can sense the balls, noone is stopping you from going after them. But if we made a time limit on them, then things like the Determination ball would be pointless, literally. The problem is that I garantee each and everyone of you (with obvious exceptions) that if you go for them, you are going to find yourself pleasantly thumped gingerly from existance. I for one am about ready to get the entire ordeal over with.

As far as the site updates go, we know, we know. Keep in mind (as for misspellings, etc) that the owner, Jeroen, is Dutch, and tends to misspell things occasionally. Or just get grammatically incorrect. "Place will learn you this technique" being a rather bold example. So those things need to be corrected, yes, but only he has access to the FTP for security reasons. We just have to get him to fix those things, but it does at some strain to the system.

About the Outer Worlds... We are working on that for the update. So far, the estimated launch date on that will be the end of Jan. I haven't been able to do too much lately, however, due to my grandfather's death, the holidays, and my upcoming move in a week. My gf has demanded that we not get the internet turned on for about a week after the move also, because she fully believes that I spend too much time on this site and will not get any unpacking done.

About transformations... In my eyes, we sought for balance. You may not see it, but its there. Everyone on the site believes that every other race has it easier and that the other races will get their powerups quicker. To me, since everyone feels that way, that means we've achieved our goal of balancing this thing. We are tweaking them though regardless. However, one thing the RPG is running into is the powerups causing a problem. They can't be given out like candy, and too many people recieving them causes for situations of the power creep growing too high. We have to limit them, but we have to give them out enough to prevent one group from being the top five of the Ki list as well. We may not always succeed on that, but we try.

Just to clarify, my complaint about typos was mainly pertaining to the forum descriptions, since I assume both you, Rad, and possibly the SM's have access to those. When referring to the Tech descriptions on the main page, my complaint was about the ambiguity. For example, the Spiritken description is in perfect English, but it leads you to believe the 2 weeks is a prerequisite to starting the training. If you look at the Oozaru requirements, it's spelled out pretty much the same way as Spiritken, but the requirements for getting the abilities are pretty vastly different Tongue

I think the different species' transformations all have their own strengths and weaknesses, and I like it that way. Namekians have nothing to keep them going until their x20, but they get it earliest of all (unless by some miracle a Saiyan gets SSJ early on), whereas the opposite is true for Changelings.

Edit: Not trying to be argumentative by the way, I just enjoy discussing this stuff 8)

More influence from mental stats. Sure, there are some good benefits of having them (as I should know with intelligence, and HF with determination, and whoever the luckiest is right now), but as I have been told, there is a cut off to these benefits, and obtaining any more points past that is pointless. I'd like to see something where your mental stats played a fairly large role in things. Sure it's a DBZ RPG, where power dictates most things, but there are so many possibilities with these mental stats, it's amazing. Emphasis on the luck stat though, because it's near useless, save for getting extra zeni, and being able to say "I can dodge anything because I'm so lucky." not very fun to rp with.

Also, I'd also like to see something that drew more people to the Outer Worlds, something that sparked activity there. Master of Assassins did a good job there for Mercy-sei, but places like Cold #213 and Arlia-sei are all but abandoned. The old Tokens Quest is still one of the most "recent" topics! So maybe something that would make people want to go other places than just staying put on Earth, Vegeta or Namek just because everyone else is there.

If I come up with some more ideas, I'll make sure to let ya'll know. =)

A lot of these have been awesome suggestions peoples! Since some of you have a bit of difficulty grasping the concept, I want to see suggestions like 20/Piccolo/SB have thrown out. Stuff that actually deals with the in-game.

Don't get me wrong, the tech vault idea, etc, were well thought out ideas, but they're not what I'm currently looking for. ^_^

Ok, this sounded good in my head, let's see how it sounds when it's down on something I can read...

A ranking system, well, kind of.

Master of Assassins is a great example, along with the Dojo of Light.

If maybe we could have a few more things like this, that maybe open up special items or techniques only when you have earned the rank(s), then I believe that would create more IC relations.

Example:

Master of Assassins
- Benefits: Access to a special shop items and other techniques, such as I don't know...cloaking or something.

Dojo of Light Champion
- Benefits: Access to ___ technique.

Master of the dark Arts
- Benefits: Access to ___ techniques and ____ items.

Just things like that, where only the current holder of the title may be able to access certain items and train for certain techniques.
