Here is something that has been floating around in my head for a while. Until I sat down to write this post, indeed this sentence, I haven't had anything hammered down. It'll come to me as I write. Its an unlikely thing to come about, but I have to try or I'd hate myself.
Now we have all felt the pangs to be another character. Some of us more than others, danacoughhack, but everyone of has felt a faint tinge. You need merely take a look at some of our sister sites to prove this. Its natural; role playing the same character can become stale at times, no matter how much you switch it up. This little thing capitalizes on that desire.
What I have envisioned is sort of a recurring thing akin to DA, though not necessarily a competition or even as often.
The basic premise, bullshit set aside, is an excuse to role play as a character from a completely different universe on chubbs. I know what the gut reaction will be to that, believe me I do, but listen to what I have to say first and think about it for a little bit. Here it is.
Insert generic plot devise 'A' here. A space time rift, a multiversal fold, ancient magic... whatever. Lets say for arguments sake its a rift in space. Your character flies through it and for a short period of time, a month or two, ceases to be that character. Means no RPing two guys. What would vary each time this happens. Perhaps members could vote on what each new universe would be. Mario? I call Bowser. Trigun? I be all Vash up ins. Hell, Wheel of Time? Lan with fuck yo' shit up. Basically any work of fiction, book, anime, movie, video game with a set universe and varied characters.
Your now amnesiatic character, has a completely new body, a new personality, a new world. It remembers nothing of its former life seconds before, but only the history of this new character. You and your fellow members would be driven by a overarching saga idea, I.E. Bowser kidnapping the princess yet again! that koopa slut. Of course it would be more complex but you get the idea. This will make things controlled and enable a relativity quick end. At the end you would be your duder again, perhaps with a headache but no other knowledge on what you have done.
I know it isn't perfect, and very rough around the edges, but I obviously think its a good idea at its base. The reason I am posting this is not to get a definitive staff stamp saying "NO", but to get a discussion going. What do the members think. I would have posted this in the RPG Discussion but I figured it would get more attention here. If the staff feel like it they'll move it.
