Star Trek May 8th

*attacks*

But seriously, I really want to see this. I have never seen Star Trek, at least not really, but I like the actor selection and the "young cast" angle. Looks awesome.

Movie was amazing, and explains itself well. The opening scene that explains the plot of the movie and the changes and how they came about is very well done, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this movie. I can't think of a single complaint that I would have for it. I think the only complaint I heard from ANYONE was that they chose to use (in one scene, one scene that its very believable and acceptable to use it in) a modern day rock song, eliciting the comment "I'm just amazed that Kirk was listening to a 200 year old song!" in a joke.

The movie was fantastic, I'd have no qualms about seeing it again, every single cast member did a fantastic job. I love the cast they chose, the fight scenes were extremely well done (I've never seen the Enterprise so badass in a space fight scene before). There were even a few guest appearances in the movie of familiar faces.

EDIT: Keep in mind... I've had a massive splitting headache since about ten minutes into the movie due to those subwoofers they use... So this has been about 3 hours of agony for me, as far as my head is concerned. And yet I still enjoyed the movie that much. Do yourself a favor and watch it.

Now I'm taking some medicine and going to bed early, I can't handle this any longer.

I loved the film. It was definitely worth seeing in the theaters, even if the parts with the "familiar faces" kind of seemed contrived and, dare I say it, lame sometimes.

Ashe is a subwoofer wuss/your theater's sound system must suck hairy balls.

I just saw the movie, midnight showing on a whim (12:10am) and thought it rocked. I want to start calling my car "The Enterprise" now but I can't come to terms with how fucking nerdy it is naming a car Enterprise after the ship in Star Trek.

We had some nerdy fuck that kept randomly yelling "KHAAAAAAN!" while the manager was talking to the crowd before the movie. Needless to say, while he thought he was hilarious, he wasn't with a girl and made me feel like I'd been to trendier Magic: the Gathering events.

And personally, I didn't think any of the scenes with "familiar faces" were at all lame. To each his own I guess.

I greatly appreciated how much they gave a bit of focus onto each of the crewmembers for their own little miniscenes. No one was "a familiar name that hung around in the background" or anything. Sulu did his thing (and his first jump was pretty funny, too much White Castle I assume), Chekov was freakin' hilarious with his German accent causing him so many problems ("To stop ze inwasion!"), Scotty was awesome and I had forgotten about him until his integration into the crew (which was well done, I think it was the dude that was the other Jumper in... Jumper), the Doctor (can't ever remember his name) was awesome, Uhura (spelling?) and her scenes were great, Spock was fantastic (and they didn't do anything stupid like try to fanservice Sylar fans with some hand gesture or something). Think I haven't forgotten anyone, but could be wrong.

Poor Olsen. Its his fault. The moment he went with them in a red suit, his fate was sealed.

Chekov is Russian. Leonard "Bones" McCoy is the doctor.

The "familiar faces" were fantastic. I thought they handled that exceptionally well.

Scotty (Simon Pegg - Shaun of the Dead, NOT Jumper) was hillarious. I liked the green chick in her underwear. And how about Eric Bana as the bad guy? My friend asked me if that's who it was afterwards and I was like "No I don't think so." Then I looked it up and he was totally right.

Huh?

Totally a movie to watch in theaters, disappointed that I didn't. Having never seen a Star Trek ever, I missed out on a lot. You could tell the points that were designed to make Star Trek fans jizz, and I was just like "oh thats cool... so he's like, a guy from the show or something I guess".

Well, according to the wikis, that Captain Christopher Pike was a reference to the original Captain in the unaired pilot, who they scratched while rewriting it after filming and went for Kirk instead. So they threw this character in to make those trivia people happy.

Speaking of, at my showing, they did a trivia thing for free shit before the movie. One question was "name all 11 movies in order" and one guy immediately stands up and belts out all 11 movies in order, including which ones had a number attached to their titles, in a single breath without even slowing down a bit. It was... scary. That and that dumbass that kept yelling KHAAAAANNNNN every single god damn question that was asked.

They make references to Pike several times throughout the original show.
