The ammo makes sense. The over-heating thing was way too easy in ME1. I could hold down the trigger and never over-heat by the end of the game.

For the end don't
choose Tali for tech specialist. She gets shot in the face. ;-;
If you already had the achievement for the Spectre gear, you could grab a weapon by ~level 10 and never have to worry about heat for the rest of the game. Canonically, having ammo is retarded. As a gameplay mechanic, I 100% agree with the decision. Rem-13 Wrote:For the end don't
choose Tali for tech specialist. She gets shot in the face. ;-;
That's why I didn't pick her. It just seemed too perfect a choice. Now that I know what does work, I'm probably just going to try and get as many people killed as possible on this second playthrough. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. Ammo is stupid. Especially after they went to ridiculous lengths in the first game to explain away the reason for guns not having ammo in the first place.
Yeah, because we're known to revert to older technology in the face of some kind of difficulty with the new stuff. *Scoff* ![]()

end mission stuff
There's more to it then just picking the right people, you need to have the upgrades and the loyalty too. Also, if you take too long that can get people killed too. I know you can use Legion or Tali just fine as the tech specialist and Legion or Grunt can escort back, etc.
Sage Wrote:Ammo is stupid. Especially after they went to ridiculous lengths in the first game to explain away the reason for guns not having ammo in the first place. I prefer to imagine the guns as being exactly the same, but that new guns put out so much heat that they require these clips to be able to fire without going into overheat after one or two shots. (I assume this is the canon reason, as well.) Explained possibly by defense tech all over the place getting better and better, what with armor and biotic barrier and all. The ammo-less weapons likely still exist, but their damage output would be utterly ineffectual against the new tech. ![]()

So this game is awesome. I was going to do a whole write up about it straddling the line between RPG and Shooter and how it streamlined the first game, but I can't seem to effectively distill how I feel about it into words. Its not even that its 'too good' for words, its just... well I don't have those words in my lexicon I suppose. I keep typing and erasing sentences. So frustrating.
As for the end battle
The reaper? The human reaper? On paper? Fucking ridiculous. But having it hanging over you like that, I don't know. It worked. I can forgive the rest of the whys and hows even if they are never explained in the next game. I am a simple man in this regard, I like giant roboskeletons. This is something I have learned about myself.
![]() When in doubt: It was sarcasm.

Any chance for a CMERPG so that I can make a krogan or a geth to roleplay with?
Pretty please? [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

If Kaden/Ander doesn't mind, I wouldn't mind running a temporary side-RPG again
01-30-2010, 09:32 PM
Finally beat the game.
Everyone survived. I hadn't looked until now, but I did exactly what Kaden did for the team placements. I did every loyalty quest, got every upgrade and achievement, did a romance subplot with Tali, and I spent a while doing side quests until I got too curious about the suicide mission. I kinda wonder what would happen if I just halfassed my way into the Omega 4 relay, but I don't think I have the heart to do it. I'll start another game sometime soon, but I need a break. o.o
Mass Effect save games for when you don't want to play the first all over again, or ME2 wont take your fucking save! ![]() When in doubt: It was sarcasm.

Guys I'm scared. I think Mass Effect might consume me.

It only took me about two years, but I finished Mass Effect tonight (the first one). I thought it was pretty awesome, especially once I booked it on the main story that I had left. Those side missions were wearing me out.
02-02-2010, 09:00 AM
Yeah, there's definitely a shit ton of side stuff.
I'd say "too much" but, really, there's nothing that says you can't space it out. That would just require, like, patience. Or something. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... I would be fine."

Finally started ME2. It consumed me just as the first one did. I was gonna just play for two hours and wound up playing for like four and a half.

I hate ordering online for that exact reason.
Well, mostly I just prefer instant gratification. It's frustrating to know that someone just has my money and I has nothing. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... I would be fine."

Shoulda gone with one-day shipping,yo. Also, ME2 has become Miner's Bonanza. I cannot let myself not mine to depletion every last planet in every system I get to, my OCD won't allow it. I'm liking it better as I go along, though.
