I hate the bullshit Alara block. Seriously.

No idea what that means. I think a block is a section of released cards?

A set of expansions. Zendikar, Worldwake, and Rise of the Eldrazi make up the Zendikar block, for example.

For my part, I want to buy the game back when anything that cost over 5 mana wasn't unreasonable. Ever since damnable Mirrodin it's too much speed for me. Playing a rush deck that plays the same every time is cool at first, but I liked using flashy cards, too.

Hell, anything with the creature type Eldrazi would like a word with you.

My buddies pestilence deck is slow to gather, but it fucking hurts...

Ashe Wrote:Hell, anything with the creature type Eldrazi would like a word with you. Since the Eldrazi set, you can get some decent acceleration in just about any color. It's pretty cool, really. Splashing green for cultivate, rampant growth, and rangers or elves makes it that much easier. Especially with all the dual lands that are in standard right now. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... I would be fine."

This is my sorry ass attempt at building a red green deck designed for who knows. I'm new to the game. Be gentle.

Every minute there's a Red deck without Lightning Bolts, another kitten dies.

But I hate cats. =/
I'll pick some up. EDIT: Might I ask why though? [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

For creatures, replace Copper Myr with Llanowar Elves. The Iron-barb Hellion is mediocre, at best. If you want a large red creature, you could grab a Hellkite Charger (4RR 5/5 flying, haste) or an Inferno Titan (4RR 6/6 firebreathing and direct damage) or something like that, though you're probably better off looking to green for your big hitters (Pelakka Worm, for example).
There are more efficient ways to do some of the stuff you want to do. For mana acceleration, like I said earlier, you're probably better off with Llanowar Elves than the Copper Myr; running only two colors, starting with one green shouldn't be a problem. Instead of Mana Geyser and Skyshroud Claim, look for Sylvan Ranger, Cultivate, and/or Rampant Growth. You could even go with Growth Spasm and Harrow, but those are a little more situational, I think. If you think you have to mainboard artifact and enchanment destruction, take out Elf Replica and Smash and put in two more copies of Naturalize. Tangle Golem isn't bad, but you could also just grab something like Leatherback Baloth. Again, green is the place to look for the beat down creatures. Definitely get rid of the Welding Jar. I'd probably suggest putting in more burn spells, also. Lightning Bolts and Burst Lightning or Staggershock. Burn down defenders and hit with the bigger creatures. Now, obviously, I'm not sure if you were going for something specifically. What I suggested basically just turned your deck into something completely different. If you had a theme or goal in mind, then feel free to ignore anything I said. If you just kind of threw something together, then, well... Also, my knowledge of cards is largely limited to what's standard right now, and you obviously aren't building anything with that in mind, so there might be alternatives to the cards I suggested. I just know that most of what I threw out is readily available and, for the most part, cheap. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... Now if only it wasn't in an otherwise rush block I could see those being really fun... Also, just saw the card "Devastating Summons" and /drool. That's so a card I would love in a Red/Green

Tallow Wrote:Ooh! Now if only it wasn't in an otherwise rush block I could see those being really fun... What are you talking about? Its a lot of midrange decks right now with the Titan based ramp decks and control being the forerunners. Those see a lot of play.
Eh,maybe it's just the area I play in, but pretty much everyone runs the kind of deck that tops out at 4-5 mana with most stuff being 2-3. Throws off my medium-speed groove.
Haven't gone to FNM in like 2 months, though, so I'm sure all those guys are just running whatever deck is winning tournaments now anyway. |
