Dragon Age! - Tyr - 11-19-2009 Vad Wrote:I TOLD YOU THAT WAS KOTOR II. BIOWARE DIDNT MAKE IT. GAAAAH.But I don't care as I've said before. I just want that system. Dragon Age! - Sage - 11-19-2009 Kaden Wrote:It just annoys me that people think BioWare started at KOTOR. Kind of like people are genuinely surprised to learn there was a Fallout before Fallout 3, and a Grand Theft Auto before GTAIII. ...Are the numbers supposed to be superfluous? @Rem: Yeah, I'd be hard-pressed to say BGII is better than DA:O, even though I would really like to. I think Irenicus is a way better villain than Loghain, though. I guess that's something. Dragon Age! - Super Buu - 11-19-2009 I think Bioware are pretty bad at actually making good plots, but excellent at building worlds and backstory. I thought the Mass Effect world was really interesting for the most part, and though there's a lot of generic ideas in Dragon Age there's also a lot of subtler differences. I like how myth/legend is handled especially, nothing is known for certain and it all feels quite believable in the game world. tl;dr: I like the codex Dragon Age! - Rafael - 11-20-2009 So..rogues blow balls. Mages as I've said are OP, and rogues...bad. I think warriors are probably the best as far as balance goes. Even with poisons they can't really keep up and they have less survivability. Might try a ranged one next, anyone tried out Rangers? Dragon Age! - Alura - 11-20-2009 I was reading this and was like "Pft, Redcliffe Castle can't come first? Pussies" I'm getting my ass kicked. =( Dragon Age! - Rafael - 11-20-2009 What part of Redcliffe is tearing people up? Dragon Age! - Orion - 11-20-2009 The damn mobs, starting with the zombie invasion. I had to keep running back and forth between the main town and the hill where all the soldiers were to even have a chance of winning it. Dragon Age! - Super Buu - 11-20-2009 Did you guys do the extra stuff, have Dwyn and the oil? I did, and it was piss easy for me, but I'd done the elf forest and mage tower first. Dragon Age! - Rafael - 11-20-2009 Yeah, I dunno. I did the oil, got the armor repaired and all that, and I only had to fight with the knights, then head down and save the militia and that was it. Dragon Age! - Orion - 11-20-2009 I did everything before hand, but Redcliffe was my first stop, hence the problem. I read another review where the guy started in the dwarven area and apparently that kicked his arse too. So, really, they shouldn't give you the choice of X amount of places if one of them is intended to be a higher level area. Dragon Age! - Super Buu - 11-20-2009 I do hate it when games get the balance entirely wrong and have the challenge start ridiculously high and then go steadily down from there, which they seem to have done here. Luckily there's no downsides to changing the difficulty constantly, so you can take it into your own hands. Dragon Age! - Rafael - 11-20-2009 Yeah, admittedly I had to go all the way down to casual doing to Fade in the Circle quest because my rogue burned through pots like nothing else. That place is damned hard as a rogue. But yeah, Orzammar smacks you down unless you wait, and even then there are hard times. Dragon Age! - Vad - 11-20-2009 I put Lelianna in plate armor. She doesn't die as much anymore. >.> Dragon Age! - Jesper - 11-20-2009 Rogues aren't bad with the duelist specialization. The boost you get from Keen Defense seems to help. Dragon Age! - Sage - 11-20-2009 My Leliana's using leather. ...Drake-hide, but leather nontheless. And she rarely dies. Like, more infrequently than Alistair does. I also -don't- use her at range. She's 2-wep spec in my game. Are you getting your warrior to tank properly? That keeps everyone else breathing a lot longer. Alistair takes most of the damage and he's wearing Blood Dragon Plate and a bad mothafucka shield. Dragon Age! - Tyr - 11-20-2009 Oriole Sands Wrote:So..rogues blow balls. Might try a ranged one next, anyone tried out Rangers?Ranger sucks, rogues rock. I can't believe you're discarding the only class that can actually use bombs. BOMBS, MAN. BOMBS. I'm a motherf*cking terrorist stealthing around, planting traps and bombin' shit. That said, rogues go behind and you better do something like what Teemer said earlier in the thread; hurl your points in a 1-str, 2-cun pattern. That way you can still wield sufficiently good weapons until and get a dmg boost before you can get the talent to switch the damage enhancing from str over to cun and therefore get shitloads of damage. Above all however; ROGUES GO IN FROM BEHIND. If you need anymore advice from the rogue-class, just ask away. I haven't completed the game as a rogue yet, but I got 6 or 7 different rogues stacked away somewhere in this game. Addendum; I'm now going 2 str - 1 dex on Alistair each time he levels. Dexterity is the only stat that boosts all different states of defense and therefore the ultimate tanking stat, so until I get strength up to tanking gear level I'm using this pattern. The reason your Leilana might die less is because afaik she starts out with more dexterity as being originally intended to be a ranged rogue and start out with more dex. Dragon Age! - Tyr - 11-20-2009 Okay sorry, a small too-late-edit, I forgot that rogues aren't the only one that can use bombs. Nevertheless, they're the only one who can do it stealthed. EDIT on the 'Addendum': I do the spending tactic on Alistair each time he gets points* Dragon Age! - Super Buu - 11-20-2009 I think rogues suck a lot less than people think. Archery, too, which I've seen a lot of people claim as useless. My Leliana is in light armor, but the moment she takes damage I pause and get Alistair to taunt, or failing that just get her to run around in circles whilst Alistair and my Mage kill whoever is attacking her. Dragon Age! - Tyr - 11-20-2009 No, I tried archery up to like level 12 or something with ranger, which had nothing to do with being ranged at all in terms of skills, and it just sucked. Dragon Age! - Kaden - 11-20-2009 I think it's stupid that Dexterity is the shield stat. It should really be Con. It annoys me having to put points into dex instead of the stat that GIVES MY TANK MORE HIT POINTS. |
