Vad- I'll probably need to pull out my monitor box, so I'll get back to you on that.

Apparently when I sat up earlier, I pulled the shit out of my lower back, so after a long time of laying on the floor (like an hour) I managed to lean against shit enough to get my thermal back thing and heat it up, take a few tylenol, and grab something to drink.

I won't be getting back up for a while. Won't=can't.

Yeah, back injuries blow. I shredded my lower back -muscles- a long time ago. Christ, the pain was out of this world.

There is no amount of understatement that could be appropriate here. I actually move my legs (what bit I can) just to make sure I'm not randomly paralyzed when it happens.

I mean, you physically CAN NOT move. Its not like it just hurts if you try but you can bare through it - no, you simply can't do it. AND it hurts if you try. Hurts and yet you can't actually do it. That's the bitch of it. I can just fight through pretty much any pain if I have to, but when you literally just collapse because your muscles can't physically support you, and feel that intense of a pain that no matter how you twist (if you can), you can do nothing about...

Ugh.

Fuck that.

HD - Jack - 01-09-2009

Wow.

I was gonna make a joke about how you had to lay on the floor for an hour, but that sounds terrible. =(

HD - Jesper - 01-10-2009

Yeah, back injuries blow. >.< I had an injury similar to Vad's, though it wasn't as bad as that sounds.

My wife got up a few times last night to heat up my heating pad for my back, so I basically had to lay completely on my back all night on top of it (not that I could move to another position). I feel a bit better today, able to actually move around without grabbing the staff I have, but hurt enough to feel a sharp pain if I happen to move or twist the wrong way. Just being careful.

Anyways, gonna go look at my monitor box.

It says "HD Grade" on it, gonna look it up on the net. Its the Western Digital "LCW-22w" something like that, I can't guarantee. I couldn't exactly lean down and pull it out from the junk that was on top of it, so Sad I'll see if I can find a link online. I didn't see a mention of 1080i or anything though.

EDIT: Westinghouse, I mean. Sorry, was typing on autopilot. Their site won't load the monitors list.

Its a 22" wide screen LCD Westinghouse monitor.

Glad your feeling better. =]

And do that. I can help with that info!

I think that's it. The only difference I can see through those pics is that mine has a silver edge to the stand, but I'm pretty sure that's it.

Says "HD Grade" but that is probably about like all the computers that were "Vista Ready!" instead of "Vista Compatible!"

Well, that HD Grade isnt lying to you. 700:1 contrast ratio is an HD Format.

The Xbox 360 had two modes if I remember mine correctly. 720 and 1080.

It is HD, just not 1080i.

EDIT: >.> more edits. This is my monitor and I saw the difference.

HD - Ashe - 01-10-2009

Just looked, noticed my page said "built in speakers" which isn't part of mine. Mine's the 22w2.

I figured HD Grade was fancy business speak for "Your screen won't keel over dead if you try to watch HD stuff! But it won't look different either..."

Looking over the stuff.

http://www.westinghousedigital.com/details.aspx?itemnum=60

That it?

It has the silver you mentioned. And like the other one I linked, it only has 700:1 which is an HD format, just not what you want. =/

HD - Ashe - 01-10-2009

That'd be it Undecided

HD - Vad - 01-10-2009

So your question was if your monitor would have better picture than a blu ray player on your crappy TV?

Yes. Fuck yes actually. If you have a crappy TV that isn't HD capatible, your monitor has at least some form of it. That being 700:1. Which is higher than standard def.

So, go with the computer prospect.

HD - Ashe - 01-10-2009

Actually, my thought was whether or not it was cost effective for me to do it: am I gaining enough quality to be worth the cost. I don't want to have to shell out for another monitor, or pay for the drive and disks just to barely notice a change, not at this time. If its something I'll distinctly notice a difference in, then I'll consider it.

Well, if you didn't see a difference, and I mean an astounding difference from the photo that Waffle posted. Then that answers your question.

It wont be cost effective.

HD - Waffuru - 01-10-2009

Contrast ratio has nothing to do with HD resolutions... it's the measure of the difference between your whites and blacks in your picture. A contrast ratio of 700:1 means that the whites are seven hundred times brighter than the blacks, etc.

Yeah the 1080 is a measure of resolution, I believe 1080 means that the screen's native resolution is 1920x1080. And the P stands for progressive, while the i stands for interlaced.

Generally most computer monitors are "HD".

Then the book I had in front of me...heck...

Reijin listen to Waffuru, totally my bad man.

o.O Tally one towards my lynching.

Yup. Progressive updates every pixel in an image every frame while interlaced updates every other row on every other frame. You won't really see a difference unless it's a super fast paced action sequence.

Its alright, I appreciate the help. I'm guessing that I should probably wait a bit financially anyways.

Just had one of those moments where my wife goes to the grocery store on a NON-ESSENTIALS run, and I go "Please don't spend our usual 100+ Sad". I get a text later "Sad I spent 114$, sorry. I have a lot of cookies to make you though!" My response: "Fail. Sad But I'll take the cookies as an apology."
