Ki Deflection - Cain - 02-03-2009 No one thinks Ki Deflection should be a low cost tech? It seemed fitting, given Ashe's argument. Ki Deflection - Ashe - 02-03-2009 Cain Wrote:No one thinks Ki Deflection should be a low cost tech? It seemed fitting, given Ashe's argument. Not sure I'm following. Ki Deflection - Cain - 02-03-2009 Since no stat will designate whether someone is able to deflect ki(similar to absorbing it in redirecting the energy), shouldn't it be a tech? If someone can't fly inherently, should they be able to deflect ki inherently? Ki Deflection - Sage - 02-03-2009 Now that's interesting. Ki Deflection as a standard tech. I wouldn't be opposed to that, though I'm not quite sure it's important enough to need a tech. Ki Deflection - Ander - 02-04-2009 Given early Dragon Ball rationale, they couldn't really deflect ki with their own bodies; they had to do it with a counterattack if I'm correct. Like, when Goku fired a Kamehameha at Tien in the World Martial Arts Tournament, the only way Tien could defend against it was to launch a counter-Kamehameha. And in early Dragon Ball Z, the Special Beam Cannon couldn't be blocked: if it hit you, it went straight through you. Same with the Destructo Disc. It wasn't until Cell that someone was strong enough to bat away a Special Beam Cannon, or SSJ2 Gohan who could not only break a Destructo Disc (like Cell did), but catch it as well. That's an interesting proposition, because logically, it could be made into a technique, the same as being able to fly or jump really high, and it's just as basic as learning how to use ki in the first place. That being said, Sage brings up a point: is it important enough to need a tech? Ki Deflection - Cain - 02-04-2009 I guess it depends on how many energy fights everyone plans on having. But if it was implemented, custom techs like catching projectile types and swatting beam types back at an opponent could be made. Combat ability could be used to determine whether or not super powerful attacks could be caught/deflected. Ki Deflection - Vad - 02-04-2009 This is how I'd handle energy beams for an example. Quote:The saiyan warrior pressed both palms facing the beam that was careening toward him. Catching the energy in his palms he pushed, straining his body to keep from being absorbed within the attack. I'd probably end the post with something like that.... Ki Deflection - Super Buu - 02-06-2009 I don't think characters ever deflected 'signature' attacks like the kamehameha and special beam cannon with their hands. Generally they were only able to deflect the weaker generic ki blasts, unless using ki of their own. Ki Deflection - Vad - 02-06-2009 The only signature attack that stands out in my mind that was deflected in the show was Frieza's finger beam. Frieza was doing them rapid fire and Goku was deflecting them all with one hand. And it clearly showed the beams had tails off of Frieza's finger. Until Goku hit them, did they become orbs of energy. Just a thought. Episode 71 "The End of Vegeta" Ki Deflection - Szar - 02-06-2009 Nobody stated two cases where signatures were deflected. Both were with Cell. He deflected Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon, and was struck in the back of the neck with Krillin's destructo disc and unfazed. I don't know if the second one qualifies as a deflection, but I recall it happening. Actually, the Kienzan is considered to be able to cut anything. While it was shown in the anime to not cut Cell that is not considered cannon, because Kuririn was able to cut Furiza despite being much weaker and Buu was also cut in half by the same technique from Goku I believe(While he was not SSJ) it's generally belived that it slices, dices, and makes julian fries out of anything. But it's true that at the beginning the characters seemed to need to use a powerful move of their own to block another enemies special technique. Though that was brought down as the series progressed and characters were able to block things using Kiai's or their bare hands, although it's believed that as their ability to control ki got better they just focused more ki into a particular spot in their body. As for Ki deflection on Chubbs, it would really only need ki control you wouldn't need a special technique for it unless you wanted to have a really powerful form of ki deflection. And for the stats, it would use a collection of them. The only time you will run into an event where it's one stat versus one stat would be in direct confrontation, like kamehameha vs kamehameha, or grappling where it's a matter of strength. Ki Deflection would probably use Strength, Focus, and Agility because you'd need to be fast and strong enough to push the blast away from you and you'd have to have enough focus to generate enough ki in your hand to deflect the blast without losing your hand- hell you'd probably need endurance so as to withstand any kind of overflow. Ki Deflection - Pinky - 02-06-2009 ಠ_ಠ I am in aw of your nerdiness. Seriously, it's impressive.
