Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Captain Silver - 12-02-2006 I think PS3 and the 360 have the same graphics. Maybe on one or two games there different. But I think there the same. As for 'sheer power' the PS3 takes the cake, it has nine 3.0 processors. My PC has a 3.6 , and thats only one. My laptop has a 3.0, once again thats one. The 360 is using like three 3.0. But in the end, the graphics appear to be the same. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Jewtastic - 12-02-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Vegeta Play the game man, thats all I have to say....play the game, the graphics are outstanding. As for the wtf range...I assume you mean storyline. While I only played through the first three missions co op last night I have to say so far the stroy line is pretty catching, hell it kept me interested. That might not be saying much for me...but so far the game is just amazing. Oh and Pui last I checked the cell processor was only 8 cores (although I didn't really keep up on the specs after about summer so I could be wrong). As for graphics for third party games, they are all going to pretty much look the same. Its the first party games that are going to let the systems shine. You could tell a diffrence between Fall of Man and NFS Carbon...a big difference. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Captain Silver - 12-02-2006 I think they changed it to 9 last time I checked. Could be 8, not sure. And has anyone heard about the 360's update after christmas? They're upgrading the memory from 20gig to 80. =o Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Krillin - 12-02-2006 The real problem I have with the PS3 is that I hear the controller is still horrible for FPS's. You can argue any kind of shit you want, but the Xbox controller is much better for FPS's than the PS2/3 controller. The analog sticks just feel different. That said, I'm eventually getting both a PS3 and an Xbox 360. Final Fantasy XIII looks fucking gorgeous. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Super Buu - 12-02-2006 I'm looking to get a Wii first, and hopefully buy a 360 later. That said, supposedly the main herald of the 360 is FPSes and online play. Wii is already surpassing dual analog for FPSes, and if it can pull off online as well (which remains to be seen - the capabilities are there, but it really depends on developer support) then I may not need a 360. I still want a lot of games like Dead Rising and Gears of War, though. I likely won't get a PS3, at least until it drops a couple hundred ? in price (the conversion over here makes it even more expensive than in the US - it's horrible) purely on the grounds that I'm a student and I'm not willing to save up that much when there are already loads of potential great games on the other systems I haven't dug up (seriously - who plays every good game on every system? Besides games journalists and incredibly rich people). But we'll see. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Inactive Janemba - 12-03-2006 They all cost too much for me. I bought a 360 for 350 and it sucked, so I took it back. It froze alot and the games really were not worth the money. I would like to have a PS3 but it cost too much money for the little amount of time i would spend on playing it. And after the gamecube I pretty much gave up on nintendo. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Krillin - 12-03-2006 My youth group got an Xbox 360, and it was phenomenal. Not sure what happened to your's, but you're definitely in the .01% of people who have horrible problems with it. My guess is that the issue was user error. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Captain Silver - 12-03-2006 A friend at my college made me crave the 360. He has told me everything about it, and why I shouldn't get a PS3 or a Wii. >.>; The only lame/weird thing with the 360 is that they don't have a web browser, I mean like, c'mon. It's Microsoft -.- and here you get the Wii with a browser. (Which made me want a Wii more) Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Captain Silver - 12-03-2006 Yes. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Nori - 12-03-2006 I go both ways. I have a Wii and a 360. I plan on getting a PS3 as well. I don't have very many games, but I hope to change that with the next generation. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Super Buu - 12-03-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Pui PuiI am appalled at your reasoning for wanting a Wii. >_> I mean, of all the things about the console, the web browser stood out to you as the most unique? Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Captain Silver - 12-03-2006 That's one of the reasons. It isn't the only reason, I did even say... "Which made me want a Wii more" o_O Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Krillin - 12-03-2006 I'm so clever. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Saz - 12-03-2006 It sucks that I'm gonna miss out on games like MGS4, DMC4 and FF12. In a way I feel like I've betrayed Sony or something by getting a 360 =D Oh and WTF Xbox 360 doesn't have internet browser? Even the Psp has a web broswer =/ I heard you can download movies and music onto it how can you do that without going online? Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Captain Silver - 12-03-2006 Oh yeah, that reminds me. Someone told me that the PS3 has free online play, is that true? Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Krillin - 12-03-2006 Yes. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Ruhiel - 12-03-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Pui Pui With that price tag on the PS3, it better have it. I'm toying between a Wii and a 360. PS3 isn't even in the picture for me. I'm not paying the same price I pay for car insurance for a console that's not any better than the other two. Wii has a great idea behind it, and with games like Twilight Princess and SSB:B to boot, I may have to get it. However, the controller, while a great idea, would make me feel a bit retarded to use. Just a wii bit. I made a funny. But the 360 has Halo 3. That's pretty much the only reasoning I've got, but Halo 1 and 2 were both awesome, so 3 is probably going to be insane. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Raditzu - 12-03-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Krillin You heard wrong. The PS3 controller works perfectly for First Person Shooters. The analog sticks on the newer controller are much smoother than the old ones and playing an FPS is no problem at all. I have Halo 2 and a 360, and I was playing Resistance:FoM no less than 15 minutes ago: there is no difference. The PS3 controller is also significantly lighter than any other console's controller, and just feels right when you're using it. And the complaint about the graphics for Resistance... just no. The whole game is fucking beautiful, all the time. There's no lag, the guns have amazing effects. The destruction for things like windows is done as realistically as I have ever seen, and its all like that at every point in the game. Screenshots and little demo vids do no justice to the game itself. I've played 5 of the launch titles for the PS3 and don't have anything bad to say about any of them. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Raditzu - 12-03-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Vegeta Have you read up on MGS4 at all? It sounds like it will be extremely stealth based. They were also talking about new ways of interpreting how you sneak around, in addition to keeping the old "you can't see me because I'm hiding in my cardboard fort" approach. From everything that's been said, running and gunning sounds like a sure-fire way to get completely destroyed. Next Gen Videogame Console Discussion - Reijin - 12-03-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Akane Kimidori I freakin' love you. Oh, and actually, I preferred my old title It was witty. Dare I say, Wiitty.I intended just to talk about how cool the Wii was, but meh. I don't really care enough. EDIT: FPS games on controllers? Personally, I have yet to be able to use an XBOX or 360 controller accurately in an FPS. PS2/3 controllers aren't that difficult. Neither are that great though. The N64 controller to me is hands down the perfect FPS controller. Anything else, I'd rather have a mouse and keyboard. |
