What are you reading? - Belle Hibiki - 09-19-2009 Rem-13 Wrote:Kaden did pretty much imply he was a moron who liked getting literarily reamed by Meyer, but I agree in general. While this is true, he also did the same to thousands upon thousands of people. My point is that it's not like he's singling out Cain to be some sort of sacrificial lamb to his dark, insidious need to wail on people. But yeah. What are you reading? - Jonathan Meer - 09-19-2009 <3 What are you reading? - Cain - 09-19-2009 I realize there's absolutely nothing related in those statements to the final, "And. . .", but it wasn't intended to be an insult if that's what you're implying. We both could've been a lot more civil, despite how passionate we were about an issue. Now we'll either go back to not knowing one another, or one disliking the other. Regardless of how you saw my statements (the whipping boy bit was uncalled for, but it seemed like Kaden really wanted to thrash someone for enjoying Twilight), Garlic pointed out that Kaden grouped a bunch of people and gave them a big "Fuck you, you cum sucking, butt fucking morons," and that could warrant any number of responses. What are you reading? - Kole T. Merr - 09-19-2009 ![]() Those are actually my shelves at home of my Star Wars books (as well as my complete collection of the Burger King toys). The picture was taken in 2007, so my collection has grown since then. I just finished Fate of the Jedi: Omen. Looking forward to a point where I have money so I can get the next one. And yes, it is at one point there two books deep. And in the end Twilight is still a shitty series, so nothing of value was gained. What are you reading? - Sage - 09-19-2009 Josh Wrote:And in the end Twilight is still a shitty series, so nothing of value was gained. I got into an argument with a guy at work. He got all mad at me for hating Twilight - and I do, so very, very much - and then he discovered I wasn't fond of the Harry Potter movies. He got all up on my case and was like "it's the highest grossing film evar so obviously it's awesome and you're stupid." So I asked him if he liked Nickelback, and he was like "no, man, Nickelback sucks (protip: they do suck)", and I told him "well, they've made billions of dollars and they're famous so obviously you're wrong and your taste in music sucks." =/ Just because lots of people like something does not make it good. Lots of people like all kinds of horrible/stupid things, because people in general are stupid things. I wanted to thrash Twilight. Which I did. Quote:Garlic pointed out that Kaden grouped a bunch of people and gave them a big "Fuck you, you cum sucking, butt fucking morons," and that could warrant any number of responses. That... was a joke. I... will try to avoid those in the future? And, for the record, I have absolutely nothing against you Cain. You like something I don't. I don't take it personally nor do I think less of you for it. Actually, I think you're a pretty cool guy most of the time. If this changes things for you, well, that sucks. What are you reading? - Rem-13 - 09-19-2009 Speaking of Harry Potter, I just listened to all the audio books in a row. Stephen Fry is a god. It's hard to admit, but I rawk out to Nickelback and watch all those horrible movies like Dance Flick, and Disaster Movie, Scary Movie 4; however, I admit they are shitty. I actually enjoy the Jim Dale readings myself. What are you reading? - Rem-13 - 09-19-2009 Jim Dale's is really good as well, I won't lie, but some of the voices he does rub me a little wrong. What are you reading? - Cain - 09-19-2009 I take internet humor too seriously sometimes. You're a great guy Kaden, especially not to take an obvious flame bait (something I failed to do on a joke). Twilight is okay, largely due to the Indian kids. I don't plan on reading the fourth for a while, but regardless of public preference it's better written than a lot of stuff out there for teens (but is simplified for teens). It's the sex oriented (which makes me feel beyond dirty) Harry Potter, and the movies were also trite compared to the books, as is the case in things short of Lonesome Dove (the movie rocks) or Desperation, the Stephen King book. You don't have to avoid jokes, I just have to remember to take the internet with a light-heart and not freak the fuck out so often. It's a handy time waster, if nothing else. And i'm sure you'll continue to do the same thing. After reading this thread i'm going to put down the book i'm reading and dive headfirst into the Twilight series, and i hope i love it, then i'm going to come back to this thread, necro the shit out of it, and pummel all of you with my opinions about it. Because i know you all care about my opinions as much as i care about yours. That said, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (the book that inspired the movie of the same name, starring Downey Jr, Tatum, and LeBeouf, which I think is amazing), is on my desk at the moment. I also plan on reading The Innocent Man by John Grisham, i heard good things. In Cold Blood is a classic i've read recently, which i recommend to anyone. City of Thieves is a interesting book i read a while back. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is a wonderful book as well. What are you reading? - Psyren - 09-20-2009 Yeah senseing Hostility in this thread i am. This proves yet again that books inspire anger and violence. We should burn books instead of reading them. ![]() Give peace a chance. I'm looking for some to listen to during my upcoming fall break, does the guy do the voices or what? What are you reading? - Vad - 09-21-2009 Started reading Pastwatch The Redemption of Christopher Columbus by Orson Scott Card. Oh. Shit. So far I really like it. What are you reading? - Rem-13 - 09-21-2009 I got mine from less than legitimate sources. And he does do voices, nothing insane, but you can tell who he's speaking as. Out of curiosity, and I'm not asking you WHERE you might obtain these audio books if this isn't the case, are you purchasing them from any specific source or instead downloading them through some other means? The reason I ask is because every time I've considered searching for anything I'm interested in on audio book to listen to on my Zune or background of my computer, they've always been somewhere in the 50$ range, so I'm mostly seeking further information on it. |
