The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Reijin - 11-13-2006 Waff summed me up well. I don't even think we'd have such a rule like the activity check if we were a totally custom RPG that didn't need certain characters to be filled. Other places like TTT and VS really had no reason to need to free up characters although they did every few months just for the sake of cleanliness. Simply... We disagree. Done deal. The staff doesn't feel there needs to be a change at this time. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Raditzu - 11-13-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Reijin More than that, there only seem to be three or four members who do want the change. Even without the staff's opinion you guys are out-voted. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Super Buu - 11-13-2006 I'd like for their to be bigger TP incentives for actually roleplaying (not counting quests, which seem way over-rewarding at the moment >_>;;). That way your power wouldn't be entirely based on your weekly training, and so the "1 post every 2 weeks" folk might actually want to post more (though I know, it should be about the roleplaying, not the rewards ... but regardless, powerlevel is an important part of the RPG). For the record, I think it's silly people being cockroaches about their characters. It's one thing if you expect to return to activity some day, but some of these guys have been at it for like, years. Not much ye kin dae, though, except wait for them to do the noble thing and step down. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Reijin - 11-13-2006 All things aside, members that roleplay more frequently are also more frequently in positions that allow them more bonuses and upgrades, whereas the low level RPers aren't as often, so wouldn't that mean frequency can bypass that as well? We don't give massive points for it, but we do take notice and calculate that in during sagas. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Krillin - 11-13-2006 Case in point, my Kaioken upgrade in DA06. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Krillin - 11-13-2006 I could try rebutting that little anti-Staff bit right there, but considering your track record, I've a feeling it would fall on deaf ears, and there's certainly no need to persuade anyone else. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Krillin - 11-13-2006 Are you suggesting that other people would jump onto your bandwagon if we had not, as you'd probably put it, "shutted you up"? The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Krillin - 11-13-2006 You won't be warned or banned over this. Regardless, the only person that really argued alongside you was Kollifum, and he was the one who initiated this whole idea. Your position definitely had long enough to get proponents, and it didn't really get that many. Beyond that, your arguments weren't conclusive enough to bypass the fact that they are within the rules, and you failed to produce a new system. So yeah. I mean, we're not trying to "shut you up". You're very enthusiastic about your position, and we're very stubborn against it. We just don't really see where it's a problem, whereas you do. If you have other things to bring up on the subject, let's examine them with an open mind. But if not, it's probably best if we just let this argument die. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Krillin - 11-13-2006 Definitely, yeah. Go ahead. You don't have to ask us for permission to suggest new systems. =p The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Super Buu - 11-13-2006 Quote:Originally posted by ReijinWhat I mean is the rewards are inconsistent. Sometimes you get like 1000 zeni for 3000 words in a quest or saga, then in a personal roleplay or spar you do 10,000 words and get nothin'. This is assuming the quality is consistent. The best way, IMO, is one single judging system for all roleplays, in terms of TP/Zeni rewards. And techniques can be worth a certain amount of TP/Zeni, or only be earnable in sagas or whatever (and those that don't get techniques just get extra, since sagas are supposed to have higher rewards). This is better than having like, a system for judging quests, another for spars, another for sagas etc etc. I actually had a system on DBA for this which I <3'ed beyond belief, and I also suggested it to FoF, though I dunno when they're implementing it. It's pretty much a more balanced system of what we have now, except quests would give less and spars/personal roleplays would give more. In other words, consistency. But yeah, I've gotten way off-topic. If you guys want to see the system, just ask and I'll PM it to you. I wouldn't have done so before today, but the updates have given me new hope. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Krillin - 11-13-2006 The point is that there IS compensation for roleplaying in personal sagas. We do notice. Even if rewards aren't given immediately, the roleplays are taken into consideration when we hand out the Techs. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Super Buu - 11-13-2006 Quests still reward too much and spars too little, and there's no concrete system for grading. =( Unless you guys have something behind the scenes. But as far as I've seen, how much TP/Zeni someone deserves varies completely depending on who's judging. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Reijin - 11-13-2006 There actually is something new that we are working on, to be honest. However, what I feel the need to point out is that we had to cut down on spar rewards a bit b/c we actually had a point where people would do literally as many spars (shitty quality) as possible each week, would never join a saga, since spar rewards could gain a net of more if you did that hardcore, and they'd just literally demand we give them the rewards for them. Things like that. So we do compensate, but no, we are not going to start giving out TP and abilities like hotcakes. If anything we give out these bonuses way too plentiful (lump sums at least) and should cut back. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Super Buu - 11-13-2006 That's why my system has a 'Quality' multiplier. Basically you get a base reward depending on the amount of writing, then that's multiplied by blablabla depending on how good the grader/s deem it to be. The end result is your reward. In other words, it's better to focus on quality as opposed to pumping out shit. It's actually much more complicated than that, but that's pretty much the easiest way to sum it up. It's not perfect, but when it comes to subjective judging, no system is. All you can do is offer some consistency, and this does it much better IMO. Both Rad and Krillin have seen the system on DBA, and Burter's seen it on FoF, along with the other FoF staff members. Mostly a positive response, though I know Burt felt it was unfair towards those who couldn't post often (I personally didn't get that, since it was actually less rewarding than some of the current systems, and it was more about just making the different roleplaying mediums equal in terms of rewards, bar sagas which have 1.5x multipliers to encourage lots of members to join). But yeah. I just dislike seeing people rush through multiple quests (as you said like what happened with spars) doing the minimum possible for big rewards, and then having spars (which these days are pointless compared to quests, so it's mainly people doing it for the fun of writing) which are written with great quality, sometimes lasting over a week, which can only get, at maximum, 3TP 150 Zeni. As I said in Idol, if I could change one thing about Chubbs, that'd be it. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Krillin - 11-13-2006 But, in the end, they aren't getting squat. A personal saga counts much more toward getting Techs than a dozen Easy Quests. Its not like we're skimping on anyone with the current system. It might seem like it, but we're really not. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Lucifer - 11-13-2006 We allow people to hang on, Koll, and to MIA-dodge, as you so eloquently put it because we have a good deal of respect for the people who have put more time and effort into this site than you've spent outside-dodging (I love coining witty new phrases). I myself have been at this site for the better part of three years. People go inactive, people leave, people come back. I'm talking about active people who roleplay say two, three times daily. They just run out of steam and leave. So give a thought to the fact that the people you're so idiotically defaming are amongst the founders of the Universe you're so merrilly flittering your life away to publish on. They've stood the test of time, something I doubt you will be able to claim to soon. When you've been here for six years and can still have the decency to role-play every couple of weeks, you can begin to talk about change. I found this thread hideously irritating for some reason. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Reijin - 11-13-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Reijin I reiterate. We've been working on something for the next update already, for a few months now. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Raditzu - 11-13-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Kollifum I guess I should be banned already, I posted twice this week. Pwned![/quote] Right you are. Account locked until Sunday. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Super Buu - 11-13-2006 Why is Kolli banned from posting more than once a week? o_0 That seems ... pretty shitty. The difference between a roleplayer and a place holder - Raditzu - 11-13-2006 That it does. It sucks when you have post the amount and regularity that someone else thinks you should. |
