Into the Future - Reijin - 03-13-2007 Quote:Originally posted by Bra I've not intended to be arrogant. I tend to try to argue both sides because when I just give up then people say something about it. The bitch comment was exactly that, pointing out the obvious. In return for all the open insults you've given me on here and the staff board. I said it to get it out what you were getting at. If you'd like, you can address me on the staff board about it. I pointed out in what I viewed as a respectful way that you being what I'll now openly call narrowminded and tunnelvisioned about the situation as being unfair. If that offended you at the time, I'm sorry. I'm going to do what I feel I'm supposed to do. Here is not the place for this though, so if you wish to further throw out your commentary, just open a discussion on the staff board and let's get to it. Otherwise, shut the hell up and put the snide commentary aside so we can work on this. Into the Future - Tobias - 03-13-2007 Quote:Originally posted by Corniss I don't know about you, but I can maybe get four posts out in month, If I work hard. Plus I am switching and there are a few things I'd like to do to put GJ to rest. This is not to mention the many others who have similar problems. It s a legitimate concerne, though in my opinion minor and not at all one which cannot be worked around. Still a con either way. Into the Future - Blind Man - 03-13-2007 I keep trying to think of more cons but I honestly can't. Pro-wise, it's an opportunity for people to have a sensible reason to start out RPing as a group if they so desire, because there's a good amount of time passed that allows for a backstory between characters, not just for each character individually. Into the Future - Bra - 03-13-2007 You, personally, might not, Corniss, but GJ's trying to gather the point of view of each side to create a more complete look at this idea. I know some people won't have time to finish their storyline in a month. I, myself, will be nowhere near finished by then, as far as I can tell. *Shrug* Discounting arguments isn't the idea here. GJ's just trying to gather a more thorough reaction. I guess the ones I can see that haven't been added are; Pro: - Makes life much easier for custom players to integrate their characters. - Allows for a great deal of freedom toward "world creation" for the staff Con: - Makes life difficult for canon players to keep their characters attached to the sudden shift in time/focus - May force canon characters to compromise storyline/character themself in order to remain integrated - Some players will find "bullshit" excuses as their only solution to explaining away the otherwise awkward shift I wanted to make three points for each but I petered out. I'm sure there will be others for/against, too. Into the Future - Tobias - 03-13-2007 Clarify the last one por favor? Also add to the list, Pro: -Removes logical difficulties with the sudden and violent changes that will take place. - Provides Role playing opportunities - Sets mental state towards starting anew - Makes life much easier for custom players to integrate their characters. - Allows for a great deal of freedom toward "world creation" for the staf Cons: - Inconveniences current story lines - Makes life difficult for canon players to keep their characters attached to the sudden shift in time/focus - May force canon characters to compromise storyline/character themself in order to remain integrated - Some players will find "bullshit" excuses as their only solution to explaining away the otherwise awkward shift some of those are kinda the same areas but, meh. Into the Future - Bra - 03-13-2007 Quote:Originally posted by Reijin I don't recall any insults on the staff board. And there's like one insult here. And you're being just as narrowminded "for" the timeskip, ignoring (and insulting) those who brought up contrary statements. I'm not offended, but you're not going to try and act holier-than-thou with that last post there. If you want me to bring it up on the staff board, fine. Actually, I'm happy you actually got to the point, for a change. Into the Future - Bra - 03-13-2007 Nah, it's cool. You've got every right to attack points you don't agree with. I was just saying that it's a very real concern for some people, is all. Into the Future - Tobias - 03-13-2007 Quote:Originally posted by Garlic Jr I kinda maybe get what your saying but not really. Into the Future - Bra - 03-13-2007 Quote:Originally posted by Garlic Jr The BS one? Er, it's not such a big deal. More of a pet-peeve. I like having a nice, solid reason for things to happen, rather than just "Oh, well, yeah, we're in the future, but so and so didn't happen and such and such did"- Actually, it's more or less something that might just affect me. It doesn't matter; you can drop that last one if you want. It doesn't so much make sense, I guess. My bad.
Into the Future - Super Buu - 03-13-2007 "Pros: - Makes life much easier for custom players to integrate their characters." I get the other ones, but not this one. Surely if you're starting with a brand new character, you can make up what they've been doing for the past five years anyway? Into the Future - Whompt - 03-13-2007 Pro: -Removes logical difficulties with the sudden and violent changes that will take place. - Provides Role playing opportunities - Sets mental state towards starting anew - Makes life much easier for custom players to integrate their characters. - Allows for a great deal of freedom toward "world creation" for the staff - Allows people switching characters "time" to get their canon to where they invisioned them before switching. Cons: - Inconveniences current story lines - Makes life difficult for canon players to keep their characters attached to the sudden shift in time/focus - May force canon characters to compromise storyline/character themself in order to remain integrated - Some players will find "bullshit" excuses as their only solution to explaining away the otherwise awkward shift - Will require a great deal of work on the staff's part to build a 5-10 year history of what happened before the reset. - The stat reset will also require a bit of creativity to mesh out why, say, Raditzu isn't a fuggin powerhouse anymore. Into the Future - Reijin - 03-13-2007 The reason it makes things easier on customs too has been pointed out several times. For example, what if a character wants to have spent a few years on Kajin Rala? This allows that, given its very recent development. What if someone wants to be a relation to an established character that has no actual kid yet and their story doesn't allow "Oops, there was someone you slept with years ago that got pregnant". What if someone wants to recreate their character so that they are no longer heavily in a relation with another character and not rush it? They can craft out a story of a fallout over the last few years. The saga we are also looking at also helps explain things like "Why you can have a Goten older than a Gohan and a Pan older than both while Videl is still a teen" type situations. It helps lock those in place, fixing those problems while enabling the world to move froward from there. Into the Future - Bra - 03-13-2007 People have been saying they need a timeskip so they can base their history on KR. I thought it was unecessary, too, but I was trying to make points for both arguments. Heh. Into the Future - Retane - 03-13-2007 Quote:The saga we are also looking at also helps explain things like "Why you can have a Goten older than a Gohan and a Pan older than both while Videl is still a teen" type situations. It helps lock those in place, fixing those problems while enabling the world to move froward from there. I've read through most of it and say that everyone EXCEPT CORNISS AND COOLA, deserve to be heard because this effects them. Ima say Corniss has been here b4. Just how he acts. Not RP style but OOC. Aslo ima ask staff keep staff shit where it belongs. Erm oh and im not voting... if I stay as Retane.... 20 years dont mean shit i can pick up from where I lef t off What I forgot to ask Reb is if they were continuing or not the tokens Into the Future - Raditzu - 03-13-2007 No tokens will carry over. So if you have them now, they won't mean anything once the reset happens. IC you can still have them, if you need them for some reason, but you won't get any statistical reward for it. Whether or not we decide to introduce something similar to tokens, after turnover, has not been discussed or decided at this time. Into the Future - Olibu - 03-13-2007 I know this has aready been argued, but you are gonna force Retane to restart with his Tokens? I mean sure if you guys get rid of them all together, but if you reintroduce them then that will be the third time he's been stripped and had to start over. Thats a little rough >.> Into the Future - Burter - 03-13-2007 Retane, just shut up. Your attitude is very arrogant and demanding, like we owe you something or you're somehow more important then other members, like Corniss or Coola. You're not. They have just as much say as you do Watch your attitude Into the Future - Vegeta Jr - 03-13-2007 I'd like to friendly remind the members who are worried about a "sudden" Turnover where they can't finish their stories, that once Im done with coding everything there will be at least 1, maybe two, weeks for the Staff to go over everything to see if we didnt forget anything. Also, after the change, obviously you can roleplay further to finish your old stories by having flashbacks/fluid time/etc. Into the Future - Raditzu - 03-13-2007 Quote:Originally posted by Olibu How is that any different than everyone having to start over with everything else? We're making people start over with their stats. We're making people start over with their techniques. We're making people start over with their powerups. Yet only tokens seem to be an issue. This decision isn't going to change. I'm sorry if that's a problem for some people. Into the Future - Old Zangya - 03-13-2007 Quote:Originally posted by CornissYou really don't know how long it takes for some storylines to finish, do you? I remember looking over Bulma's Spiritken training. The time of the first post to the time when Burter graded it was 6 MONTHS. Dante's Abyss: Conquest took three months. This saga I'm in now so far has taken already a month, and we're not even close to finished. |
