Dragon Age! - Sage - 11-18-2009 Or Mass Effect? Dragon Age! - Kaden - 11-18-2009 Mass Effect is mostly the same combat. The ones I listed are exactly the same combat. Dragon Age! - Dr. Cringle - 11-18-2009 I've played all of those (and now I'm not so worried about playing it.) Dragon Age! - Sage - 11-18-2009 Kaden Wrote:Mass Effect is mostly the same combat. Oh yeah? Well, Your face is stupid! Dragon Age! - Kaden - 11-18-2009 Owned. =( Dragon Age! - Vad - 11-18-2009 Saying this is exactly KOTOR isn't true. The Pausing and Queuing is the same, but this system is much more fleshed out than KOTOR. KOTOR involved queuing one or more of your abilities in a row. Some abilities were automatic openers and depending on what Force ability you chose it picked the tactic. For example. If a character had Force Jump. They'd start by jumping to the target and doing a slash. Dragon Age! - Kaden - 11-18-2009 Vad Wrote:Saying this is exactly KOTOR isn't true. With the exception of tactics (which is only a partial exception, since there were separate AI tactics... they were just very mediocre) I maintain they're the same. You auto-attack. You have abilities you get as you level. You use them in combat. Abilities alone did not dictate AI tactics. Combining a combat queue with pausing was redundant in KOTOR, and wouldn't change anything if it were present in Dragon Age. Dragon Age! - Vad - 11-18-2009 I agree, I never paused in KOTOR. Xbox or PC alike. I found that I didn't need to. A lightsaber was basically a get out of everything free card. That and grenades. Christ were grenades useful. I block blaster bolts, slice through melee, and just grenade nuke droids with ion stuff. Dragon Age forces me to pause. During a fight in the Mage tower I just completed on Nightmare it was me and Wynne (me being an Arcane Warrior). I paused every 3 seconds to give Wynne Mana and have me attack. I'd rotate. Vlad gets mana, and Wynne attacks. Etc, etc. I burnt her revive on Shale who I couldn't heal in time and got pounded out again. Dragon Age! - Kaden - 11-18-2009 The need for pause doesn't stem from the combat system, though. The balancing between player characters and encountered enemies is vastly different from KOTOR. It should feel very familiar to any who played NWN/2 or Baldur's Gate, though. BioWare did make games before KOTOR, after all. Dragon Age! - Sage - 11-18-2009 Pfah. Wynne. She's old. I have no use for her. Dragon Age! - Kole T. Merr - 11-18-2009 Can you even try a romance with Wynne? Dragon Age! - Tyr - 11-18-2009 Apparently you can try a romance with pretty much everyone. There's even a possible foursome if you swing both ways. Dragon Age! - Sage - 11-18-2009 Nah. The only romance-able characters are Morrigan (but only if you're a guy), Alistair (but only if you're a girl), Leilana (doesn't matter), and Ze... the, uh, elf... dude. I imagine he only deals with the ladies, but he is an elf, so... I dunno. Dragon Age wiki, homes. Dragon Age! - Tyr - 11-18-2009 Dragon Wiki is wrong homes, you can even have sex before you leave your origin if you're a human noble. Hell the number is at least twice as much as that you just listed and that's just characters you don't take a long. Maximum Persuasion is however required at most of them. Dragon Age! - Sage - 11-18-2009 I wasn't talking about just NPC randoms. =/ Dragon Age! - Tyr - 11-18-2009 I was, as that is most interesting. Also the foursome is with one of those characters you mentioned, unfortunately as far as I know it's not a female one... Dragon Age! - Sage - 11-18-2009 XD Whatever. They're all polygons anyway. I'm more interested in not dying as I traipse through the murderous countryside. ...This game hates me. Dragon Age! - Orion - 11-18-2009 Kaden Wrote:Did you never play KoToR? Or Neverwinter? Or Baldur's Gate? I played KOTOR but not the rest. My real point was that I was underwhelmingly weak and I got fed up dying against the mobs in Redcliffe. I ended up beating that first zombie invasion, but after the third time of dying inside the castle, I haven't gone back to it. Dragon Age! - Super Buu - 11-18-2009 Zevran is, unsurprisingly, also a male romance option. Leliana is a female option, more surprisingly. Oh, and I just did Anvil of the Void. Some of the best, and most challenging, fights there so far. The Deep Roads really drag on, but the final dungeon makes it worth it. Dragon Age! - Psyren - 11-18-2009 wow so i bought dragon age and im in the redcliffe castle getting my face ripped apart. |
