I have problems with many scanlators writing abilities. A lot seem afraid to alter what was said in Japanese to something that sounds good in English.

Oh fuck yeah.

Similar to your complaint, I was watching Appleseed the other day and every time there coulda been like, this dramatic moment, the character would say something stupid instead. It seemed like they were trying to stay true to the source but in so doing took away all the teeth the dialogue may have had.
