Unit/Soldier Brainstorming
#21
Snipers a) no longer have any range advantage and b) have absolutely no real way to defend themselves. You could also say that the sniper rifles are bolt-action, meaning one sniper can only really take on one troop at a time.

How about medic units in place of the kits/senzu beans?

That's a good non-combat idea, but I don't want it abused. I'll probably put a maximum on it

You could integrate "med-kits" into the whole supply-chain thing you're working on.

True, but a medic would make more sense. You could limit their ability to heal by the amount of supplies their carry. So, in a way, they're just human medkits. Their "experience" could determine what kind of wounds they're able to heal (minor, major, etcetera). Possibly every so often their supplies could be renewed. The thing with medics, is, they have to be guarded, because if they are killed, their ability to heal goes with them. A type of strategy could be to go after an army's medics as a way to remove their healing.

Another thought. What about amphibious units, able to travel on water? They could only skirt along the edge of the map (where the water is, obviously), and may be a bit too much of an advantage since the castle must be touching water, but it would be some pretty cool roleplaying fodder.

Units should really be able to cover any type of terrain, and medic kits aren't really necessary. Remember these guys are going to have super human abilities like the rest of us, so medics could simply be people who are able to heal wounds with Ki, and pretty much all charcters can fly or at least run fast enough to pass over water rather easily.

Well, put into consideration that some units are carrying most equipment then others.

It'll be cool to have a couple unit types that CAN move over water, but not all of them will be able to.

Makes sense, but for those we could still use the experience thing, except have it be how far they've developed their healing powers versus how well they can use supplies.

EDIT: Also, for the amphibious units (again, drawing from C&C), the transports could only land on beaches. Maybe only limit landing to certain squares? I mostly had transports in mind, unless you'd be willing to come up with a counter to sea-to-land strike. Or you could just have all-out naval warfare.

I realize, Kakarot, that units will be able to fly over water, but what fighting aspect in the last few sagas has been done on water? It would be something fresh.
