I want the job I get to be laid back...

I mean, yeah, there are deadlines and stuff, but I dont want the work enviornment to be strict as hell and I don't know the dude next to me or not being able to have a conversation with my boss about the work we're doing, or something like that. That's probably another reason why Im choosing community college or a university(if I can help it).

I wouldnt have a problem becomming a cartoonist/manga-ka. I think it'd be pretty interesting, though drawing an episode of something seems like it'd be hell.

My best friend is at Savannah College of Art and Design.

His dream job is working at BioWare, which is considered to maintain a team of only the most talented employees.

I just finished applying to college. My top choices are Tufts, Northwestern, and Johns Hopkins. I want to major in Computer Science or Digital Media Design/Graphic Design. If I can, I?d love to get a dual degree/double major in Music Composition. Those are my two passions. Hopefully, I get into one of those schools. I wanted to apply to Washington University in St. Louis but my parents would let me (it?s ?too far away?). I?m kinda nervous now. I have to wait like 3 months before I find out.

Games Journalism here. I'm trying to follow Broli's train of thought, since I love the games industry and can ramble about it for hours. But yeah, ridiculously competitive. ;_;

And like Murasaki, I'm going to try and write on the side.

Well, I'm not in college yet, but I do have some good ideas at what I'm definitely aiming for.

I've got a lot of options for colleges on my plate, but I'm really pushing to get into Duke. I'm also looking a lot at Miami U of Ohio. Then I've got a lot of fallbacks.
I'm going to go into engineering. I'd LOVE to become an aerospace engineer, designing planes, rockets, whatever. I love that stuff. Sure, math is my weakest subject, but my best subject is science, without a doubt. My other possibility is to go into bio-medical engineering, take courses to get a nanotechnology degree, and specialize in prosthetics.

If career options open up in aerospace, my dream jobs would be at either Northrop Grumman or NASA, both of which you've got to be the best in your field to get into. Which is why I'm not sure if I should pursue that field.

If I go bio-med, after I graduate, I'll shoot to get into medical school and become a doctor. I don't have that course of action planned out as well though, because that's really far into the future.

And my third option is to major in either of those two engineering fields, and go into law. I don't find it to be an "invigorating" field, but there is a feeling of worth, and as I noticed in my business law classes, I'm just plain good at it. =/

Bah, who knows. I may end up being a writer after all this. xD

Supes, I've considered that. As you just said, yeah, it's SO competitive. The problem with game journalists (and many other journalists) is that jobs aren't very secure. I mean, what makes your writing ability any different than someone else? It's not rare for a studio to have you write a story in their Irvine, CA branch only to send you to their Tulsa, OK branch right afterwards for a new story.

Really though, if you like to travel, I wouldn't worry that much about it. Also, I've seen your writing, and even though a journalistic story would be a completely different thing to write, I'm sure you could be a worthy competitor. Good luck with all of that. I'm still on the fence as to if I want to pursue it or not.

I haven't gone to college, being 15 and all, but I wanna be a therapist. Which should make writing on the side rather easy.

Seriously, I love helping people with advice and whatnot...but that's a lot of years of college to put dedication into, and I'm really slack in the homework department...I've been trying to work on that, but I'm just so damn lazy! But I always get A's on tests, I'm not stupid by any means.

>.>

So, therapist ftw.

I drove by the Savannah College of Art and Design today with my GF and this thread popped into mind.

And that would be another factor as to why it's so high up on my list. =D
