Battle of the consoles

I think the PS3 will eventually win, but this victory won't be determined for a while.

I don't think there will ever be a "victor" between the Wii, 360, and PS3.

What? That's kookie talk.

I agree. This generation seems to be one of innovations, trial and error, lots of new shit coming out that the companies are trying to integrate into the mainstream, mainly standard online support. There may be a console that does it better, but what gaming is all about is really the games. There seems to be more focus on the attributes of consoles right now, and aside from the Wii's wacky-ass remote, they're all doing the same thing in a different way.

No, kookie talk is going on about how you feel about a system when the debate has to do with whether or not that system will actually succeed.

I don't understand this. If a console racks up enough 'errors', and another actually prospers, won't the latter console be considered the victor? Isn't that how these things have been decided since forever?

I think Bojack is citing the infamous 'Dreamcast' argument, although to a lesser degree.

I want the PS3 to "win"..... pretty much only because I personally own one. And I can't wait for Metal Gear Solid (The single reason I actually purchased it for >.>), Final Fantasy XIII (I'm not really an FF kinda guy but.... meh), Lair, Resistance II (You know it's coming.....), etc. There will be alot op oppertunities for the PS3 to take the market for themselves, whether it be in video games, or media (yeeeah....).

I'm indifferent about the XBOX360 because I don't own one, don't care to own one, and don't particularly see why Halo was so successful. Personally I found Red vs. Blue more enjoyable than the actual game itself. Even though I side with Sony, I don't nessessarily wish to see Microsoft crash and burn under Sony, but I'm not exactly hoping that they invent a 3rd system.

The Wii, is alright... needs more games, like Super Smash Bros. which in my mind will skyrocket sales. Personally, I think there's a reason my school, as a fundraiser, is raffling off a wii system at 5 dollars an entry, rather than the Playstation.

And even though it isn't the current console war... I definately side with the PS2 as winning the previous war. Not by they're.... umm.... similar cords that work ion the Dreamcast, as I have recently learned... It's because I was gazing through a popular gaming magazine and found aside from the second god of war, God of War I is the seventh top selling video game recently.... that's singular only to the second Playstation, face it, it won. And is still winning. It makes sense that Sony would continue to support the console since so many more people have it than do the 3rd.

I'm done >.> See everyone in about a month where I make my annual random check of the site.

Well, the PS3 will probably win in the long run because it's technology is longer lasting then the other two consoles but it probably won't be for quite awhile. Wii will probably be the first to die since it's not really a Next Generation console, it's more like an Overclocked Gamecube.

I don't see the Wii dieing, despite it 'not being a next gen console.' I think Fun Factor and re-playability will give the Wii quite the long lifespan.

I think the Wii's going to have to live off of console specific games in the future, as the ports suck and are often much better on the controller consoles.

So that being said, as time progresses, I think the Wii's list of good games will become smaller.

You know it's funny, a lot of people say that PSP was a failure, but it sold 20,000,000 copies and the last time I checked that was pretty good.

The media just doesn't like Sony. There's no real reason for it, either.

It was like this when the PS1 and PS2 came out, it's not until the get into the mid part of the new generation that they ever pick up. Their end game is awesome though, because they always manage to push the very limits of their hardware.
