Things every Left 4 Dead player should know:

If you melee the tank, it will stop attacking who it's currently attacking and go after you. If someone has been incapacitated by the tank, GO FUCKIN SAVE THEM HERO.

Also if you throw a molotov at the tank, then they'll automatically die after about a minute, all you have to do is run. So it's a good strategy.

If someone is grabbed by the smoker and you can't see the smoker, you can either melee the snared person or shoot/melee the tongue to free them instantly. If you're gonna take ages killing the smoker, free me first.

Meleeing hunters dazes them. When they're dazed, they don't jump around like crazy. So if you get a chance to melee them, do it, THEN shoot them.

You can bind a button to explode as the boomer. It makes things vastly easier, and if they let you do it, you should. (open the console and type 'bind k kill' to bind your explosion to k)

Close doors behind you. Self-explanatory.

Stick together. Don't run ahead, don't fall behind. The simple fact that the AI survivors do this is the reason why single player is so easy.

The director has a countdown, and when it reaches 0, he sends the horde at you. So KEEP MOVING BITCH

This game is not a regular FPS. If you run around circle-strafing and being a flashy mofo, you'll just get shot by your team in the chaos. The best approach in Left 4 Dead is to stay in a tight 'formation' of sorts, like a phalanx. Crouch in front so you don't get shot and your accuracy improves.

Shooting the cars is not nearly as funny/original as you think.
