I think John being Maf twice in a row was actually beneficial for him. The odds of that happening actually put you pretty low on the suspicion totem pole.

OR it makes you rip your hair out in frustration knowing you're doomed to failure a second time.

Granted, this time was actually a lot closer than last. The biggest mistake to having myself be Mafia again was that I feared the possibility of a doctor. If this was the first game, the killings would have hit Soph a lot earlier than it did.
