The abridged roleplay style is a byproduct of "never control anyone's character ever." If you don't allow that, the only 'long posts' in a collaborative setting tend to be insufferable purple prose describing the most inane shit (ie. "he picked up his glass" becomes "he extended the long slender fingers of his palid-featured hand to grasp around the neck of the glass decanter, allowing his skin to slip along the moistening condensation and chill into his bones"... only like ten times worse).
