See, for me, I'm starting to think the opposite. Right now it feels like we have a system where writing quality is the big factor, with stats as a tie-breaker.
The problem with that, in my eyes, is that it doesn't really encourage people to roleplay a lot. With stats, a player has a clear idea of how strong they are relative to the rest of the playerbase - they know that if they write, they'll move up. You could make the same argument about writing quality: if you write and read more, you slowly become a better writer. However, this 'betterness' is vague, undefined. More importantly, it's subjective.
On the other hand, if we go to stats being prime, there's no way a newbie is going to do much of anything in contests for the Dragonballs for years.
Ugh.
I have some thoughts on a new system, but I'll probably just make another thread for it.
