Krillin's snores were monstrous, thundering against the treetrunks and literally frightening the poor squirrels and woodpeckers amongst them. Luckily, however, these same trees blanketed the horizon, and effectively numbed the otherwise telltale noises kicking out from his slumber.
An inconveniently placed megaphone jarred him awake. The gaywad announcer did a phenomenal job of making the warriors even more hateful. For one, his voice was nasal enough to tick that primal instinct to kill anything annoying. While Karl Jak was quite safe at the moment, that hate would no doubt carry on to the other competitors. For another, he made it obvious that he was living in luxury, watching the spectacle through video screens and audio streams, while the rest of them danced around with each other. It was very much like a human zoo, only this time, the zookeepers weren't there to keep them alive, but rather make sure they died. Very grotesque. A poet somewhere might be able to write a powerful piece on a theme like that, but no one would care to read it. The human race loved to see horror and brutality displayed before them, but none of them were brave enough to delve into a good poem about it.
As the Danger Zones were listed off, Krillin scribbled on the corresponding bits of his map. Three zones. Three places to steer clear of. He wished there were actual lines in the earth corresponding to the ones on the map, but there weren't. That made it a great deal more difficult to figure out where he was, but there were posts at the corners. It would take a fair bit longer to be more precise with the zones he wanted to travel to, but it could be done.
With that, Krillin hoisted up his pack, realized he left his water, and unhoisted his pack. Then, after sticking the bottle in there, he rehoisted his pack, and went off into the early morning. An hour's nap would have to do, for now.
