She crouched low; a branch became easily pushed aside. The field had gone by behind her; the wilting blades soon flourished and tickled her ankles. Small insects leapt from their nests to nip and peck at her bare flesh. It was somewhat annoying. Dante?s Abyss had not been this annoying last time, but then again, this time around it seemed to be legit. She could easily recall the false show run by the Cold Empire, what a laugh.
The sound of a slap echoed thought the small area. The android frowned and lifted her palm from her calf. The remains of an unfortunate mosquito riddled the crevices of her appendage. Promptly the blonde smeared it off on the side of her shorts and pressed onward through the tall grass and sparse tree growth. It was not surprising as the familiar tingling of an itchy bite soon surfaced on her slender legs. She groaned, wishing she had some kind of lotion. It was growing apparent that the real enemy here was the tiny army of critters that lived beneath her. Pesky buggers, all of them.
Her foot crushed down on a dead twig. She paused, looked left and then right, and then stepped forward. A platoon of ants scattered forth from the ground, a nasty ant hill so cleverly placed beneath her foot became the start of a war. Not one to be weak, the android fought the embarrassing girlish fear that easily began to bubble forth from her very being. Also, it was not so easy to suppress, she became the girl she was, and fled the scene. Ants of all sizes flew from her sneakers and she crunched, crashed, and slid through that thicket as if death were on her tail. To her, it might have well been, at least death wasn?t a creepy crawling fleet of little biting ants.
Panting, heaving, and pretty much having a hacking fit, the female finally halted in her rampage of fear. Her hand rose to wipe sweat from her brow before her gaze took in the surroundings. This place was not as amusing as the last one, either. From what she had seen it was just an island. There were no clever landscape ideas, nor bunkers to settle into. There were, however, danger zones. No surprise there. Perhaps it was time to rest, even she grew tired, even if it was all in her head. Only a few more steps took her to a stout boulder surrounded by a few trees and lush grass. All in all it was peaceful, but there was no telling who?or what, was out there. With that thought the sheepish android had to peek around with paranoia ever so close. She set her boomstick, as she proclaimed it so, upon the rock beside her, and proceeded to shrug her backpack off. A little water would do her some good.
