That's basically shyness. Autism involves a lot more than just difficulty with communication. It's often characterised by a lack of willingness to communicate, or indeed, being happy just not to talk to anyone. In addition, you can be hypersensitive, in some cases not even wanting anything to touch your skin due to discomfort.
To answer PD's question (this is from what I've learned of autism, not personal experience) basically you can't get your mind around why other people do the things they do. You just don't understand why people want you to do things or help them, because you can't put yourself in their shoes. Basically, you don't understand other people at all.
