They decided to go with the Animal Crossing angle, that's why it looks so cute-esk. I got used to it, and find it cute when my little girl nods her head in her little manner lol. They knew animal crossing was a big hit, and wanted to move back from the more serious style.
I do agree that if they had taken the graphics from Wonderful life, and put it on MM's game play, we would have had quite a game.
I had bought Wonderful life for 80% graphics, 10% for just owning it, and 10% to try it. I was so disappointed in it.
