"You proved me right all along", a saddened visage appeared across the elvish warriors face.
Retane stared, confused by the change of tone. He fathomed what was to come next and remained tense and ready to spring, not willing to fall for ploy. What bothered him, was the look in Enroshia's eyes. He had never seen this look before, and it bothered him so. It was a look of regret and loneliness. The crimson eyes, usually now burning with the fires for a fight, simmered in dispair.
"Talented and smart, you are. But you will never understand love and the fullfilling life. You couldn't muster the heart to show true care to a person. You kill without mercy or a second tohught. You don't think about who you have harmed and hurt from the death of your victims. Whether they are innocent bystanders, you slaughter them. Trion, the prime example. You killed innocents just to complete a job and to cover your tracks. Dark Hunter, they call you. Heartless is a more fitting name."
The swordsmen sheathed his blade, his eternal pain still sounding out loud, "You're alone again. There no longer is such a group called the Horsemen. Alone. That is how you shall forever be. You will never have true freinds and your allies will come and go. You're a savage. And you sicken me. I only help you because it is the will of the higher powers."
"You'll never truly have the heart like me to reach the greatness I have! They do not understand this! But I do!" The elvish warriors tightened his bloody hands as he barked at the mercenary, who just stood there, cautious and bewildered.
The mercenary just turned and walked away. The words stung true, and it sickened him. He felt as if he had reached his peak and that he was alone. The news of the Horsemen being gone even tore him up more. What would he do now? He was without allies and in his world he needed them. Freinds he could do without because he needed no emotional tolls? Or did he?
-------
"Sir? Are you the one known as Retane?"
The mercenary looked back at the woman's voice, a smile still on her face. He couldn't understand why she wore the happy visage, or what she wanted. If she knew his name then she should have known that he was dark and devious. His eyes raised with intrigue as he gave a slight huff, wondering what she wanted with him.
"You've been accepted too."
